This video follows Interstate 84 from its eastern terminus in Downtown Portland Oregon out to the eastern suburbs of the city toward Gresham and the beginning of the Columbia River Gorge. The section between I-5 and I-205 is known as the Banfield Expressway, which was the first freeway that opened in Oregon on October 1, 1955. This video was uploaded on the 60th anniversary of the freeway! Enjoy!

I’ve road I-84 east and west and you’re are correct the views are amazing. Especially seeing Mt Hood headed west and the Columbia River to the right 😎

I believe that interchange is a remnant of when US 30 was supposed to be on the Banfield - I-84 was supposed to run south with I-205 then west on a new freeway south of US 30. US 30 would be paralleling the 1 mile stretch between exit 6 and 8, as a freeway, but the plan was opposed so now US 30 and I-84 share the Banfield.

Great Video, Love a Good road trip ! Oregon is awesome !! I was born in Portland but unfortunately live in Illinois. Fortunately have lived elsewhere. Phoenix & Virginia Beach for three years . Have also been to 49 states. Alaska is my last one. If you're ever in North Carolina you need to make a video driving Route 12 in the Outer Banks down to Hatteras! Keep up the good work !

Great video Kyle! Great ride! Some of that footage is vaguely familiar as I recall coming in and going back out that way. Both driving a semi and also delivering new school busses to a nearby rural school district just a little south and back east of the I 5 freeway. Another 110% Kyle! Mark in Iowa.
  • Cool. Hello from Waterbury, CT. Here in Waterbury, we use I-84 to get around the city.. at least moving basically from the East to West side or vice versa. Most cities I know don't use an interstate to get around locally lol... Like to see the Eastern Terminus which is actually where I-84 meets the Boston Turnpike.

Nice film. But I see one mistake that you'd put the eastern terminus of I-80 in Echo, UT which is to be I-84. But this is awesome!

The 181st Ave exit is actually Exit 13
