Nice review! I have the Sony a6700 and I use it for all YouTube production. I live in Hong Kong and do record in higher temperatures. So far, it has not overheatedā€¦ also have not had any of the glitches you mentioned. So yes, I am happy customer.

Nice video Jett. Nothing wrong with surprising guests with a camera in the fridge. Makes for a great conversation piece lol.

Great review Dude! Love the colors. That card error is just crazy to me. you even got an expensive 90v Prograde card. Imagining getting that error during work makes my blood boil. I got the a7iii, i have been thinking about getting the a6700 first and later sell the a7iii for the fx30. What i really want is a fx3 or a7siii, but I know i will never be able to afford it. The a7iv is incredible but the Fx30 gives me the same capabilities for video for a lower price, even if worse in low light. From a business point of view the fullframe has been felling expensive. The cheaper aps-c lens attracts me a LOT. The small and light form factor makes me want to actually use the camera for fun. The advances in cameras have been amazing, makes quality affordable. it's a great time to be a content creator nowadays.

I'm a little late but regarding the creators app, I remember having a bunch of issues with disconnecting too, that seemed to have been entirely resolved by just turning off bluetooth on my phone. Might be worth a shot, I know it doesn't excuse the issue, like you said, it should just *work*, the disconnecting hasn't come back since. Other than that, agree with a lot of your points, in spite of the flaws, I love this camera!! My friends are always underwhelmed when I bring it on trips because it look so tiny lol, then I come back with videos and photos and they're like, "you shot these with THAT thing??" šŸ’€
  • I'm still on the A6300 the overheating champ... Use an external battery pack and pull the monitor away from the body. No more overheating. Running 4k for long period in a warm environment isn't something I generally do but if I did I could work around the overheat issue even on the 6300. Happy to trade you even for camera bodies.

In my opinion, it is a fantastic camera. Unbelievable bang for buck value. Absolutely love this thing. I recommend getting an external charger for it. Charging via usb takes far too long.
  • @JeffsWay.
I was sold on getting the A6700 for a few months, that was the plan. Then I started hearing more and more about the overheating issues. So I ended up going with a FX30. Sometimes I question if I should have just went with the A6700, but I've been happy with the FX30 in the short time I've had it.

Iā€™ve had the a6700 for about 4 months, and for me itā€™s almost perfect. I shoot mainly birds, so my ā€˜negativesā€™ might not be an issue for others. Its EVF, whilst very clear, is too small. Its stabilisation is only borderline effective (at least compared to my previous OM-1 and current G9 II). Lastly, it could do with at least 20 fps. If I had to choose just one of these to be improved, itā€™d be the stabilisation. Iā€™m not getting a lot of out of focus images due to the stabilisation, but framing when using a telephoto lens can be a real pain. Iā€™ve experienced no cliches at all.

Buy the Ulanzi cooler 2nd gen. It doesn't fall off the back like the 1st gen cooler. I use the Ulanzi cooler 1st gen, and it does fall off often, so I use a rubber band to keep it on. The cooling works like a charm tho

I went from the 6500 to the 6700, so it's been a big step up for me. I agree with your thoughts on the grip but adding the smallrig base plate makes it that much better! Highly recommend it. Ever since updating the camera firmware I havenā€™t experienced overheating, try sticking with Sony batteries over third party. I also use a v90 angelbird that gives me incredible clarity in the footage, no issues with shutter. Pairing this up with the sigma 18-50mm f2.8 is an absolute game changer. Great review as always, keep it up!

I use a A6700 mainly for photography, and in low-light, even with the focusing aid, the camera hunts, I am using the Sony 18-200 lens, the system sometimes hunts, ie it can't focus on a subject even when it is standing still. Everything else is really good, phtos and videos are crystal clear.

I was looking for a B-cam for my A7iv and the A6700 was the top of my list, but a lot of reviewers commented about the overheating. So I decided to test it for myself. I set up the A6700 at 4K30 (10bit 4:2:2) with the screen out with high temp shutoff on in a room at 28C (simulating a warm room in summer here) it overheated and shut down after 1hr 11min. The other camera in the same price and spec range was the Fuji X-S20, in the same conditions recorded for 2hr 20min till the battery died (it gave a high temp warning but never overheated). Of interest the A7iv overheated and shut down after 1hr 20min, not a whole lot better than the A6700. I did intend on using this for recording 4K30 a bit over an hour and without external cooling the A6700 is uncomfortably close to overheating. I know I could just get the FX30 but I also wanted a backup photo camera. So I ended up going with the X-S20. The A6700 is a great camera but I am enjoying using the X-S20, either could be a better fit depending on your requirements.
  • Amazing video dude Which computer & programme do you use for a6700 footage???
  • @TFE134
Thanks for the review. Iā€™m about to go to Iceland this summer (itā€™s cold there right?) and I want a good all around compact camera that shoots great video.
  • @angelangelov2354
Get the Tilta Lightweight Kit (Cage+Handle+Cooling) for the a6700, instead of some janky stick-on fan. It's a proper solution.
  • @sampsasohlman
Got followin from me from here and Tiktok. Also bought this camera and listening. For overheating I did bought the ulanzi cooler, but even it is new version I would like it if would stay better
  • @v3blaxican
As far as the SD card issue, I had the same thing on other Sony cameras when using Lexar V90, but I started using ProGrade and haven't seen it since.
  • @jaymills1720
Love your channel! Subbed! Youā€™re selling me on the a6700. Do you think itā€™s worth going for the fx30 over this?
  • @v3blaxican
If you get the fan, make sure you get the version 2 with the spring mount system
