  • It's corn harvest time in Alabama again! It's amazing to see the fields shining gold and all the hard work paying off. Moments like these not only bring joy but also make us feel the simple beauty of country life. Each corn is a labor of love and patience!" 🌽✨

Glad I found your channel. You might find this interesting. My great great grandmother was Elizabeth Beers from Benton .She passed away after childbirth and one of her brothers, George Washington Beers took the baby to Montgomery and raised him . I won't bore you with anymore of this but I have been hunting down there for about 45years😊

I am in a different region than you, but last year I dealt with some very similar conditions in corn with my Geringhoff. I found running the head as high as I could helped to prevent bringing excess trash through the combine, which I offset by running Devastators on the bottom of the head (could use stompers as well). I was running right below the ear, so even if I was getting stalk breakage, it wouldn't give me as many fits. I also have the Geringhoff factory ICF Crop Sweeper. I am not a fan of traditional reels, but the sweeper is very effective against lodging on the top of the snouts, and being able to use your control and reel controls to pop it out and "pull" a wad in when it did break, it really helped me with having to get out and clean up plugs. Plus, when you dont need, it, turn the valve on the side of the head, fold it out of the way, and go about your business. I also picked up a hair of ground speed and slowed the head down a little, using the momentum to help feed - but everyone's experience may be different. I would highly advise looking into the sweeper, its the best money I've spent besides the investment of the Geringhoff, and by not having a folding head, you can run the full length head. Good luck!

To help the stalks feed in better try taking those rubber cob savers off including the ones on top of the snouts. When the stalks are that brittle they catch and break off. Try that on the rows that plug the most and see if it makes any difference.

I like the custom “long wrench” used on those fittings. Great eye dad on the cracked fitting!
  • Might have to harvest that stuff at night! The moisture would be welcome! Or start at 3-4 am and run til 11 or noon, then Hancock’s for lunch! 😎

Good morning Granny , hope you are having a great week. Beautiful weather here in Michigan. Around 80 for the high end 60 for the low. They say next 7 days of this and I will take it. TAKE CARE AND STAY COOL !!!!
  • Watching from Nebraska. I enjoy your videos. I have never left a comment before. Just want to encourage you to hang in there trying to harvest that corn. Some years and days things just don't work out. Hopefully you get more rain next year
  • I'd say a corn reel might be a help. I know your corn isn't down but a reel would keep it feeding into the combine. Have a safe harvest. Really like watching your videos.
  • Granny Good Morning! Hope you're having a Great Week! Great video Daniel! Machine work beats picking by hand. 😮
  • @Husker3435
Hate to see the lower yields Daniel, hang in there. Y’all are doing great considering…Hello Granny, God Bless all y’all at Triple R🇺🇸👍🏻🇺🇸
  • @aqter7911
Good Day Granny! Yall are such a hard working Farm Family. We thank Yall for sharing your farm lives with us. Yall are working hard through the lower than expected corn crop. Pray is the Way to Go.
  • Dan is right. Vibration will crack those hydraulic lines quicker than most anything. I've seen it happen on combines, tractors, cotton pickers, even on trucks. And I can tell just from his tone, this isn't his first go around with this issue. Take a look at those hands. They have turned many a wrench!
  • @akaslayer100
I admire his patience and willingness to get dirty and fix things. Never questions how much “work” it’ll be just gets it done. Team work makes the dream work keep it up!
  • Can you lay your header flatter so the stalks fall back more. Combine at night with the dew or get a downed corn reel put on.
  • you can put a reel on head they work great, its spinning wheel mounts on top of corn head, your knives might need changed also , geeting deck plates right distance might help also

Thanks for the Video, awesome as always, The power lines will distort the gps signal. Every time he goes under those lines its probably dropping the signal enough, that it starts searching again. Happened to me hunting one day with my hand held on a power line run. Screwed me up and had me going in circles for a bit lol.
  • Love Dad's outlook. He has experience and knows how to fix it.

Just think for a second at 1 time 90 bushels was outstanding numbers. We have become spoiled with all these high bushels per acre these past few years or so.
