This is an excerpt from 'Secret Places Hidden Histories of Northumberland' a DVD made by Keith Hartnell of Northern Heritage Services in 2005. The story of German bomber pilot who was presumed dead, met with Joy Scott of Bolam, who as a young girl remembered the bombs dropping on Bolam. Luckily, the bomb that hit the church was a "dud", and Joy lived to tell the tale and meet with the pilot "Willy" after all the years.
