I remember watching an interview where Tom stated that the reason why he became a rapper was because he realized he couldn't sing... then the man goes and does something like this... Tom officially fought himself and won. And as a result we all benefit by getting to hear Tom's craftmanship.

To put this in context, I am 62 years old. I thought I hated rap until I heard your music. I'm still not a big fan of the genre, but I love your message and listen to every song. My favorite thing about you though is that you do things your way and don't let the naysayers slow you down at all. You are a trailblazer. I hope the rest of the musicians in the world give the finger to the music industry as you have. You have the kind of courage that makes people proud to know you, or in my case, to know of you.

As a 31yo, member of a generation that has a bunch of tattoos and piercings all over, I just want to thank you all in the comments (especially the older folk) for not fixating on that and just appreciating the talent. I've met tons of people that always say something like "what a clown, look at that shit on his face" and disregard everything about a person just because of that. I really can not comprehend the hate that Tom gets, honestly blows my mind. Very few artist these days can jump back and forth between genres the way he does and just hits it out of the park every time. Powerful, insightful, and inspirational.

Great song. Ive been a huge comic nerd all my life and when I heard this song i started to tear up cuz ive been asking, "where is this world's super hero. We need Superman." For a while. Thanks Tom. And thank you to all those who fight for my freedom. My great grandfather served in WW2. He was my Superman. He was always kind, playful and fun. When i was younger and dealing with my parents divorce my Gramps said to me, "Life can hurt really bad sometimes. But always remember, you are a hero to someone." I have never forgotten those words. I’ve listened to this song many times but for some reason the line, “soon you won’t need a TV or an iPhone to see because soon you will look out your window and, boom” really hit me. War is eminent, “they” have been coming into our country for years. It’s one thing when it’s happening across the world but soon, it’ll be outside our windows. This realization actually has me crying.
