Pizza is a SANDWICH?! ► • Food Theory: What Makes a Sandwich a ...
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is a gem in the history of movies. It stands out not just for the acting and the main story, but all of the things you can find hiding beneath the surface. It is a surprisingly ominous movie and the character of Willy Wonka is at the center of the horror. We've talked about Wonka using the Golden Tickets to pass off his OSHA violations onto the winner, but what if that was not the only trick he's trying to pull? What else is Willy Wonka up to? Watch to find out!

Five children put in danger by a man in purple? Sounds eerily like a certain pizzeria with bear mascot, doesn't it?
-
If it truly was rigged to begin with, it makes Wonka even more of a business genius than Charlie's grandfather gave him credit for. Instead of inviting five predetermined kids to the tour, Wonka used the rumor of a random-chance event to rake in billions through sales and publicity.
-
Fun fact: the actor who played Charlie bucket actually worked on my grandparents dairy farm. I can’t tell you how shocked I was when I found out

me re-watching all of Matpat's videos now that he is quitting youtube

"The real question is why were all the winners children." .............I... I never.... realized........ My mind is blown MatPat. Never even thought about the fact "must be a child" was never in the rules.

Interesting theory. ) Also one of the first things I thought about was wealth distribution. If I remember correctly the book, the bars were not cheap (at least not for Charlie, who was simply very poor). Also funny thing is, Charlie was walking past the factory nearly regularly, so he lived at the same town, where the Wonkas' factory was situated. So even as a child I thought, how convenient it was that the golden tickets happened to appear close the factory itself (maybe just some of them, but still suspicious!). :) Concerning the "kid question", wasn't it explicitly stated, that the excursion to the factory was for kids? As I understand, if grown-ups found the tickets, then they were supposed to give them to their children. As, I think, was with Veruca.

The Golden Tickets were rigged to definitely be kids and Charlie was definitely chosen and maybe all of them were.

Personal theory: Veruca Salt was the only kid who got her golden ticket 'legitimately'. She had the personal finances and manpower to basically just hit the slot machine infinitely and grind out the probability until she got one. Willy Wonka was almost immediately openly hostile to her, partly because she's the most unlikable brat on the planet, but also possibly because she forced her way into the factory while all the other kids were 'chosen'.

I just recently did a Willy Wonka musical and Augustus was German, Violet is Southern, Veruca lives in Brazil, and Mike and Charlie live in America Somewhere. I like this change

Joe: gonna die Charlie: gets the ticket Joe:*you just got healed*
-
Now here's the question: What is the likelihood that every kid spoke ENGLISH.

When you realize Wonka isn’t racist, he’s just ageist

I love MatPats opening, especially this one as I can see Mat being easily distracted if a student gives him a wild theory to work over and loose himself in his research.

Even more evidence that Charlie's chocolate bat was planted is that it was one of two chocolate bars that were not in an organized pile on the shelf, but instead leaned up against the pile almost as if it were put there earlier not in a shipment

Every child except for Charlie were chosen because they all had an aspect of their upbringing/family that would lend itself to running the factory. Veruca's father was a prominent business owner (management) and Veruca was able to get anything she wants out of the people around her. Augustus's father was a prominent butcher (international management) with international ties and Augustus was a food lover who would enjoy the food itself. Violet's father was a politician (business policies/regional politics/HR) so she could learn politics and Violet was a determined and competitive girl. Mike was a tv lover and would be great with marketing and technology. I imagine that different members of Wonka's team chose them because of these attributes while Wonka decided to give his choice to the candy shop owner. The candy shop owner chose Charlie because he could see Charlie staring from the window before work and when the last ticket was "found", Charlie bought chocolate not because of the prize, but because he genuinely wanted some and even thought of his grandpa. ...but that's just a theory
