Jonathan Ferguson, a weapons expert and Keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries, breaks down the insane weaponry of the Counter-Strike franchise, including the iconic AK47 automatic rifle, the FNP90 submachine gun, and the many versions of the AR-15/M4 rifle.

In the latest video in the Firearm Expert Reacts series, Jonathan Ferguson--a weapons expert and Keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries--breaks down the guns of the Counter-Strike franchise, and compares them to their real-life counterparts.

This man played CS, wears a ghost shirt, and is also a firearm expert. Legend.

Jonathan's smile after he saw his photo as a spray just brings me so much joy

6:15 The scenario you described did happen in Vietnam with a compromised US sniper who had the bad luck of running straight into a squad of enemy fighters. He was carrying an M1911 and a revolver (I don’t remember the caliber). He immediately drew both weapons and got to business. Would be weird firing 2 very different handguns in a situation like that.

I LOVE just how much insight he has into the logic and history behind the development of counter strike, as well as his own personal history with the game.

"Here's one I prepared earlier." That phrase still makes me grin and enjoy the funny points all the more. Thank you again for making this video.

Most of these "X Expert reacts to Y" type of videos have a lot of people who have little to no video game experience, and its a gem to find a series where the expert talks about the mistakes and forgives them based on the developmental limitations. Props to the.. umm humility? of this guy when talking critiquing what's shown.
  • Damn, I remember those early maps when they first came out. I remember tinkering with the sounds and textures. My first intro to GIMP was because of that game. Also back then you could replace the models...I had homer Simpson's running around on my screen. Foot steps replaced with duck whacking sounds...I remember replacing the knife with a snickers bar too.
  • i love the way he handles this. he could totally say shit about how it isn't relastic so it isn't good like many csgo players do, but he knows that GAME BALANCE SHOULD NOT BE BASED ON HOW REAL IT IS
  • @mordor1779
I love how he knows about gaming and why some firearms look a certain way, because he knows the game, like the Cyberpunk video where he knew the game is a futuristic-retro 80s theme and he reviewed the guns basing his opinion on this knowledge, and same thing for many of his other guns reviews of other games. Not only he knows a lot about firearms but also the games he talk about which is really cool
  • You can see by the thumbnail what exactly he will tackle... The good M4 foward assist ludicrous reload
  • My god.. he even takes into account the period of when the games were made. That consideration mixed with his passion and nostalgia when talking about his time on CS. This is good content.

Now that I've seen the forward assist being pulled back 6 inches and let go to chamber a round on the AR-15, I can't unsee it. How did they screw that up? 😂
