Welcome to the Letterman YouTube Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. The language may strike you as quaint & flowery, the clothing comically lacey & ornate — but that’s how things were back in this colorful and now bygone era.

Such an amazing moment when Bono cheers the crowd to stand up.... There were people seating and jumping on their seats! amazing!
  • David proved he know his U2 by saying "Feedback" as he outros them!!! He wasn't just referring to the speakers, he knows that was an earlier band name, bravo!
  • I dig the way they mixed this. Adam’s bass is significantly more prominent than it typically is in this song. I like it better like this. Gives it a completely different vibe.

I was 16–17 years old back in 2000 in Berlin, Germany, when I first saw the music video on TV. Changed my life forever. I am just grateful that I can even write this comment. We've all grown up. God bless yall.

U2 is a wonderful band to experience live. The Ed Sullivan theater was a great venue in which to hear them. Thanks for posting this!

the unsung hero here is the studio audience continuing to clap, IN TIME
  • he mentions Joey Ramone cause joey was listening to the song "in a little while" from that album when he died.

It's a strange thing, being in the audience of a taped show like this. We were watching the show, but we were also reminded that we were part of the show. The audience handlers were eager for us to bring a lot of energy, which may be why so many felt compelled to clap throughout the song. I don't recall for sure, but I suspect there may have been some encouragement to stay seated. The second Bono motions for us to get out of our seats near the end of the song, I was right there, as was everyone else around me. It was a unique treat.
  • Amazing band. There is nothing left to say. I am happy to be their fan since I remember.
  • I appreciate your choices, they are so emotional, I love them all, but especially Edge.
  • This song always brightens up my day. The best band ever! 🔥

I've been a U2 fan since seeing The Tomorrow Show w Tom Snyder in June 1981. The show started at 1am, there were alot of fans in the studio, that made alot of noise. They played, 'I Will Follow' It was eye-opening
  • I've never seen them, but I have no doubt its a religious experience for anybody who has.
  • Best performance at the Letterman era Ed Sullivan Theater... EVER!

I just watched the documentary. Great job ❤ Loved it. I want to visit Ireland 😉 I'm glad I was able to see this amazing band LIVE in concert three times ❤ I have to add that my favorite part of the documentary was everyone singing together at the pub ❤ So cool that other talented musicians and singers were included 👍🏼🎶 I love you Dave ❤
