FLICKA 20 POCKET CRUISER AFFORDABLE BLUE WATER SAILBOAT

Publicado 2024-06-24
Would you like your best years filled with the freedom of affordable travel and adventure? I do. Watch this! How did Bruce Bingham design this salty dog of a little 20 foot sailboat in a way that makes me want to buy one and move aboard? Did he just get lucky? Voodoo? Not bloody likely! Skills son. Check out this little video I threw together and learn a little naval architecture design. Because, I guess they don't teach that in the schools anymore. I really think this is my best video yet. Please tap that LIKE and SUBSCRIBE buttons and SHARE. Sailors are desperate for more sailboat video content and it's up to US to support REAL CREATORS. Can you dig it?
Keep your eye on the horizon and a hand on the helm.
Thanks, Mitch

P.S. Special thanks to Louis for his comment.

By far the best boat review format I've seen.

Luv it luv it luv it! Laughed my assets off! I've had a secret love affair with this boat design for over 40 years! Thank you for this video, please keep'em coming for this fellow Texan.

Great video! I am completely amazed at the variety and content of this—nice work, good Word! There was a Baba 30 next to us in the boatyard, and the owner was kind enough to allow my son on board to give him a tour! Sure is a nice looking boat. Thanks again!

If I ever downsize from my 28 foot long keel, the Flicka 20 would be the boat I would go for!
  • @rover1848
Great video. She tacks through 90 as well as any other cruiser with good sails trimmed properly and a clean bottom. ;-)

Really great Video. I've lived on a sailboat for thirty three years and I've visited seventy six counties. I recently downsized from my 42ft P Rodes yawl to a Shannon 28 in outstanding condition.I can see myself with a Flicker in my twilight years.A great little boat for the fjords of New Zealand.
  • P.S. Btw, yeah, I can totally dig it, too -- keep 'em coming, Mitch, like I always say! Fangirl, here!

Thanks for the great video! I look forward to seeing your work as i found you when you traveled and did an interview with a Com-Pac 23 and 16 owner. At 53 i found a com-pac 16 and hopefully will have her seaworthy in a week or so and go for my first sail ever.
  • Hey, Mitch! So excited to see this one -- the Flicka is a phenomenal pocket cruiser with quite the following, and it seems I've come across many-a-Com-Pac-lovers who also salivate over these little treasures! As it turns out, I may be in the market for a Pacific Seacraft -- tho, one of the Flicka's bigger sisters -- I'm looking at the Dana and also the Orion -- and I've even been tempted by the 31 ft'er, too. If I make my move out west, I may also be working for a dealer that sells Pacific Seacraft Yachts AND Com-Pacs -- talk about boat heaven!!! Thanks, again, for this one, Mitch -- would love to see one of these on the Dana as well! 🙏⛵🌞🤗
  • There wqs a flicka 20 for sale not long ago in your neck of the woods. I thought you bought it.😂. Great vid.
  • @noasailing27feet
I downsized to a Allegro 27 ( double ender) ,strong sailboat built in Sweden for bluewater cruising. In Sweden you can find them from 2000 euro an up !

Cool vid! Baba 30’s are tanks. I would know as an overland transport company wrecked mine on an interstate off ramp. It was totaled but withstood the impact remarkably well. I’ve got a NorSea 27 now that I’ve worked on for the last 2 years. A NorSea might be an idea for a vid for you. Love your channel.
  • @Ramenscooter
Comfort Ratio same as my 1965 Columbia 29 😊
  • @robertscholz4486
O.K., I'll see your Flicka 20 ... and I'll raise you a Nor'Sea 27. Better numbers all around on Sailboat Data --- compare them. 50 more produced than the Flicka, 138.06 more pounds/inch immersion. Designed by Lyle Hess who also designed the Bristol Channel Cutter, Foulmouth Cutter, and the Montgomery line in addition to the Nor'Sea 27 and 37. That would be my choice to go over the falls, hell it's my dream boat ... some day, some day!!!
  • @dboboc
Sorry, Bruce Bingham and Fred Bingham did not work together to design the Allegra 24. Fred Bingham used the Flicka molds without Bruce’s permission. They didn’t get along very well afterwards.

I enjoyed your Video a lot.I own one of the few Flicka 20 in Europe an sail it on The Grevelingen in The Netherlands. Great little pocket cruiser an faaaast for a smal boat, adorable to sail. See my Video on youtube an you feel The speed.
