This video is an updated version of a previous video I made about how to animate in Photoshop. I tried to cover all the useful stuff you might need to get started animating within the software.

Amazing! So interesting to see your workflow
  • This is the best tutorial I've seen anywhere, showing how to use Photoshop for 2D animation. No plug ins needed. And pretty short. Thankyou SO MUCH.
  • stumbled across this and immediately i knew i had to break out the cintiq and follow along. one of the most killer tutorials i’ve seen, you move at the perfect pace and it’s perfectly set so we can do whatever we want for our own animations with a solid base. Never really given animation a shot cuz how complex it seems to set up but this 100% changed my mind and got me excited. (i blame you fully for when my girl inevitably gets “mad” at me for spending too much time messing with this stuff)
  • Thank You so much for sharing your workflow. I really got inspired to animate 2d- characters on photoshop after watching your works. Thanks for putting in your precious time to teach people like me and help us get comfortable with the software.

This has got to be one of the best process explanation videos I have ever come across. So clear. Might convert an animate cc user like myself to photoshop!

Seriously, you've no idea how these videos are helping me, I'm a Graphic Designer and only upon graduating I thought; 'I should've been an illustrator/animator.' So impressed that you ACTUALLY animate in an old skool way with new skool tools. Salutes and many thanks, I'll send you a link when I get to that point. TY Olof. Amazing Work
  • it just started with photoshop, but within a few minutes of this video I was able to animate a very simple black and white paper, falling down as the wind blows, I'm so happy about it!!!

So helpful! I'd been running into problems using exclusively video layers for pose to pose, but I didn't even think of using your method of stacked image layers. Thanks a lot!
  • You've been a great inspiration and I was able to post my first rough animation test! I can't draw like you, so I did rotoscoping, but thanks for giving me the inspiration to even try 2d animation.

Thanks for this! I've been using photoshop for a while now but mostly staying within a very narrow set of tools, and when looking to expand my knowledge, videos like this are extremely helpful. 🍻

This is by far the best tutorial I was able to find on this topic. Thank you very much for taking the time to explain all the little details!

The best basic Photoshop Animation Tutorial I have seen. Very clear and easy to understand. And lot of "tricks" on the way. Thank you so much Olof!

You deserve more recognition!!!! I love your works!
  • @muratz1
Awesome. This is really just a clear useful tutorial. I use PS for 14 years and learn some new stuff with your video. 👍
  • @gavin_cheese
Extremely helpful - provides a lot of insight into little tips and quirks I wouldn't find by myself :D

At last there's someone here who can teach us without nonsense adlib. Thank you boss!

My 2d animation project is done by your way . I'm so happy now. Because I'm a animator now. Thank you so much for making me the animator.
  • @r.ferguson486
Thank you for your help! Your tutorial is the first one I've ever seen, as I've never animated before, so can say you've done a great job explaining things and helping this learning process be manageable rather than overwhelming.
  • @Alzeal07
Just learned about the action menu and the fact you can add and delete frames in a video layer, ty so much for this will help me a lot!!
