  • Harald Hardrada is my favorite viking king. His saga is awesome, and he himself must have been one of the most badass vikings that ever lived.
  • @brober
They really need a movie to be made of Harald's life.

Excellent video! The most complete and detailed account of Harold Hardrada wrapped up in a superbly written and narrated manner, the equal of any acclaimed ancient saga. On the question of "great", well that's very subjective depending on the point of view. In a nutshell I'd say he deserves "great" attached to his name. His drive to excel and willingness take on any challenge regardless of the odds sets him up to be a leader of men. He obviously had charisma to attract large numbers of followers and gain the confidence of foreign royalty to be trusted in their service. Its really amazing how much activity and accomplishments he packed into such a short time. Just traveling the vast distances alone is quite an accomplishment in itself.

I’ve been tracking my ancestry for year and I have traced it back to King Harald. Now I want to learn all I can about his life. Thank you so much for this video

You should do documentaries on- 1) Lucius Cornelius Sulla. 2) David IV of Georgia. 3) Scipio Africanus. 4) Subutai. 5) Scanderbeg. 6) Narses. 7) Alexander Suvorov. 8) Paul von lettow Vorbeck. Btw Great video 👍

Thank you for the mention of the first Capital of Sweden; Sigtuna
  • The Battle of Stamford Bridge was amazing. One lone axeman held off hundreds for hours and killed forty men single handedly until a soldier went under the bridge and stabbed him through the groin. Another awesome video mates. You should think about putting these on disk and selling them to the public (schools) 😁
  • Just when I'm super bummed out and having a pretty awful day The People Profiles comes in with the cure by dropping a new documentary. Thank you!
  • @MasterJediDude
Thank you for this excellent biography on the man and the warrior. I would love to see a movie about his life, because I feel his years were full of triumph and tragedy. His invasion into England definitely caused the Anglo-Saxons to split their defense. And his last battle must have been so frustrating, as he ended up on the downside of history. But still a great man and leader.

You just saved my History grade. Thank you so much, hope this video gets a lot more appreciation.
  • @jacey1963
I love the new title sequence, very professional and I can see your production quality is improving all the time, as for the content of the biography, excellent as always, I learned a lot about the Last Great Viking!
  • @austenkeith8891
Just finished reading Viking Fire by Justin Hill, a fictionalised re-telling of the life of Harald Sigurdsson, well worth a read if you get the chance.
  • Thanks for the background, which gave some details I didn't know. Harald Hardrada was my 27th generation grandfather and I am proud of him. The last great Viking.
  • This is definitely one of my favourite you tube channels! I’ve learned more from watching your videos then I did in history at school! Just a few suggestions for videos; Alfred The Great Charlemagne The Borgias? Thanks for this recent video, I’m looking forward to watching this tonight! :)
  • @Shoshana-xh6hc
Fantastic! Thank you very much for recreating this era, King Harold of Wessex was an unbelievable hero 🦾💜
  • @tonylove4800
I am watching this because I am enjoying Vikings: Valhalla. Yes, it's true that it messes with the history but it's great watch and it's inspired me to check out the real history so two points in its favour.
  • @TacDyne
Wow, a YTer who doesn't beg for likes and subs. Have both. :)
