Koenigsegg has built a new car that looks like its oldest one. Welcome to the CC850: a 1,385hp hypercar with a very complicated manual/automatic gearbox, all clothed in the timeless design of Koenigsegg’s first ever production car. That’s the CC8S, providing ample proof of its ageless design concept because it looks just as fresh today as it did back in 2002. This new car celebrates 20 years since it first took flight, as well as the boss' 50th birthday.

The CC850 achieves a 1:1 power to weight ratio with 1385hp (on E85) and a 1385 kg kerb weight. Oh, and did we forget to mention the perfect 1385 Nm @ 4800rpm for a full house?

Join Top Gear magazine's Jack Rix and Christian von Koenigsegg for a guided tour around number 1 of 70 under the roof of the company's new factory.

Christian is a proper engineer. Such pride in the details. He obviously has a team of clever people working with him but he knows his stuff. I’m not one to be a fan of a car company boss but he’s in a league of his own.

Never really had a singular car that was like clear in my head was my dream car. Now I do. I need this. 😍
  • @0WhyNot3
Christian is that humble friend that wants to learn and tell you what he learned. Sharing his thoughts and sees you as a clever human being

Never thought I would see an automatic and manual gearbox, all in the same car. What a time to be alive.

The CC8S is such an iconic car, and the fact that Koenigsegg are revisiting it and updating it to the latest tech is testament to just how iconic it is. The CC850 is and will be a work of art in motion.

I love this man. He and his company have truly taken the romance of car making to an entirely new level. I hope he is around making cars for another 50 years!

Christian could talk for hours and always sound warm and excited about his projects. You can hear the knowledge and honesty in his tone.
  • Christian is the epitome of what we all dream of accomplishing as a kid, but then he keeps on delivering what no one could ever expect. He’s easily the best to ever do it. Ferruccio, Enzo, Etorro, and Horacio would all agree; he’s in a league of his own.
  • Beyond the incredible humility, passion, spectacular knowledge and joy that Christian exudes through every pore, I absolutely love when he uses the term "we". Yes, there is a stunningly competent and exquisite team behind him, he is ultimately the boss and could say things like "I invested in this factory because". Not only are his cars stunning achievements, he is likely an amazing boss to work for. I imagine that no one his team would ever even think about leaving or being disloyal. A true leader. Very much the Swedish way. Hats off!
  • The way Christian describes the engine reminds me of the Carrera GT. What an accomplishment by him and his team
  • I love the fact that Christian always notes the other great cars from other companies in his talks. He really does appreciate great engineering and so it's not a surprise that Koenigseggs are some of the best engineered vehicles out there. Wish him and his team all the best.

I'm glad they were convinced to make another 20 of these. They're such rare cars, and I guess it's good for their business to produce these 20 examples more. Gemera is the apple of my eye, that car is such a motivation to get serious about my business. All the performance I need and them some, great electric-only performance and great highway range, with a bunch of people and bags on board. With just 2 people, space for loads more bags. Basically the fastest roadtripper. If not so flashy, a perfect cannonball runner :-D

Horacio Pagani, Christian von Koenigsegg and Mate Rimac. I'm so happy that these 3 people exist.

Christian is a genius level engineer. He knows everything about the car, top to bottom, and the CC850 is the most exciting car he's made since the first or second Egg. Those wealthy and privileged folk who get to own one of the 70 are incredibly fortunate. I can't imagine a more desirable car. Christian is a truly inspirational character.
  • its sooo soooo pretty. Honestly one of the most beautiful cars ive ever seen. Whoever's idea it was to revisit the car as a homage hats off to you I want one on a poster on my wall.
  • Christian’s passion doesn’t surprise me, but what does it is how he has done countless interviews describing this gearbox over and over again and every time he has the same passion and excitement and detail while explaining it as he had the first time he was asked.
  • He is my favorite person in the car business for a reason. Likeable, a maverick, an enginneer, well spoken, and talented.
  • @stealthhtm23
CVK’s passion & knowledge of his products, is unlike any other. I can listen to him all day, talk about this masterpiece. couldn’t even imagine driving this engineering marvel. can’t wait for this car to be thrashed around!!
