do you have a hard time reading your handwriting? do you want to make some changes but are worried about losing your handwriting's unique style? here's how I would approach improving legibility without your handwriting turning into everybody else's.

Also disclaimer: I'm not a teacher! but i have an extended knowledge on the subject of handwriting so I wanted to make this video for anyone looking to make improvements to their handwriting's legibility.

Here's a weird thing. My daughter's and my uncle's handwriting is almost identical (both lovely, legible and distinctive styles). My uncle died before my daughter was born and she never saw my uncle's handwriting until she was an adult and was really baffled when she saw a letter he'd written me and said she couldn't remember writing it. I knew who the letter was from (I'd kept it because it was such a lovely letter and I still treasure it) and until that moment I'd not really connected how spookily alike their handwriting was.
  • I often think that you shouldn't push yourself to your limits when handwriting. I prefer writing my thoughts down, since it could help me remember things.

This video is REALLY amazing. My handwriting has been horrible most of my life and I struggle at writing in cursive, I'll start little by little with this and then proceed to try improving my cursive handwriting, thanks a LOT.

Hi Leah, I have been trying to get my son to write legibly since he was in Year 3/Year 4. He is now in Year 9 and not much improvements. I did start him off with getting back to basics with just writing the single character alphabets but as you mentioned its the combination of words, spacing, levelling, hand tension and how all this comes together which gives me quiet confidence and excitement that will greatly help in improving his writing legibility. Couldnt have agreed more - its not about perfection..but efficiency and legibility. Love your work ❤

My handwriting is the jerky type and when I was younger that was something I was proud of, I kind enjoyed writing things that other people didn’t understand, but unfortunately I didn’t understand either. I’m an avid reader and I since a few days ago decided to write down my thoughts and become a more organized person but my handwriting is not on my side. After watching this video I’m ready and motivated to improve my handwriting and write more. Thank you!

100 videos: "Your personality bleeds onto the page subconsciously. You can't really stop it. Your handwriting is a crystal ball into who you are" This video: "Lol, but you can change all that with even a little bit of practice" Astrology, but when you don't want to be "an astrology girl." All that said, I watch the hell out of these videos for ASMR so thank you so much ^_^
  • Love love LOVE how you explain things so thoroughly and in a way that’s quick and gets to the point! Love this vid as always <3
  • It's incredibly cool how in just about every video, things you've concentrated on before pop up later on... this one was nearly all-encompassing. As a writer, I love doing several passes on a page and crowd the margins with additional notes. Anxiety and arthritis do not lend themselves well to this practice and I nearly laughed aloud at the truncated "apple." What an excellent video! I don't have trouble recommending this channel because one may truly drop in anywhere and glean something from any episode. It's really nice to see you settling into your new place and- ...now, what do we need to do to afford you a boom stand for that supplemental page gazing camera??? Always a pleasure and very informative. Keep glowing up and thank you very much for sharing your craft Leah.

Love your vibe, Leah. You always brighten and educate my day! Thank you for what you do 😄

This video is just what I was looking for. My handwriting is legible but it's inconsistent in some letters (different sizes, or shapes, or whether they come out slanted or straight). I always start with one shape and end with a completely different one. I've been watching a lot of videos but most of them don't really teach anything. I am so happy to have found an expert who really knows what she is talking about. Thank you so much, you have been a great help.❤
  • My handwriting has always been messy, which sucks, because I love Caligraphy. For my brother's its effortless, and he replicates anything I give him without trying, but for me, its still a challenge. Thanks for the vid. : ) lets see how this goes

Been waiting for this one bc I’m having to improve with my non dominant hand now bc thumb injury due to perfectionist writing with my dom hand I think it’s important to mention that for autistic and writers with hypermobile joints the FOCUS should be more on first the best possible grip and hand position, then working out where the origin of the arm/wrist/muscle movements begin, then with the basic strokes from which all letters are comprised. Drawing and penmanship exercises other than “copying letters” are very useful. Mostc things kids my age (when we were kids, that is...) are problematic because teachers at that level when kids are writing were not even aware of neuro-muscular and proprioceptive differences. Also; perfectionist tendencies and self monitoring every damn letter as we write it inhibits letting muscle memory develop and “just flowing”. Also: POSTURE. if you have a poor posture and Don’t set up your writing space/page the right way, it’s gonna stop you progressing. IK this vid is for peeps just enhancing their existing ability to write, but as someone who writes just as badly with dominant or non-dominant hand, I’ve been studying this extensively lately

Let’s go! I love your vid! I’m sure this’ll be really helpful for some people :D

I was taught to write cursive with a fountain pen in Scotland in the 4th grade. I still use a fountain pen.

Tysm for this!! I most likely have dysgraphia so legibility has always been a big issue for me. When I began school I was receiving therapy for it, although they never labelled the problem. I have no idea why I stopped receiving help though because my writing is still illegible! Even I can’t read my writing sometimes! I’d given up on improving it but over the last year I realised how important handwriting is to me so I want to try again. I’d always preferred handwriting for study, I just find it helps my focus and memory more. But recently I stopped journalling on paper and started writing in my notes app and after over a year of that I’ve realised I don’t process my emotions as well when I’m typing. I also love cards, I love receiving them and giving them. There’s little to no resources for adults with this disability so I really appreciate videos like yours and your acknowledgment that some people have extra challenges with writing really means a lot!
  • I really don't know what to comment But I felt very appreciated and safe like someone finally understood me and solved my problem and now I'll be able to stop myself from running towards perfection and comparison and criticism thank you so much ❤ and with your tips I'll embrace my handwriting and make it better by continuous small effort thank you so much ❤
  • Tysm for posting this! I hope my writing gets better before school :)
