  • Grateful for Rhiannon. She's been educating for years.
  • Beautiful and inspiring stories. May Allah bestow his mercy upon Omar ibn Said. رحم الله عمر بن سعيد وغفر له وأدخله الجنة

Congratulations to Rhiannon and thank you to her for bringing us Omar's story.
  • I was sort of surprised to hear her talking about "complicating" American history. I'm very proud of my southern culture, and I guess I'm young enough that people like Ms. Giddens and Omar were always part of that for me. I'm grateful that so many have fought for a seat at the table and infinitely enriched our culture as a result.

may Allah bless you two queens, and bless this king, and all good people who suffered then, and continue to suffer now

So many "wasted lives" when slavery is enacted. So glad I chose this more difficult avatar and cultural group this lifetime. Africans and African-Americans are absolutely phenomenal, creative and resilient People. I hope to experience this country when Jim Crow 2.0 is over and ALL people feel free, tolerated and even LOVED enough to aspire to greatness and bring up the whole. We are ONE. BLESSINGS! 🙌🏾🙏🏾🌏💚💎

I recognize her from Occupy when she was with her old band. Another amazing roots musician to check out (whom has played with Rhiannon) - Leyla McCalla.

  • Snap I never knew the banjo was an African American instrument. I have also associated the banjo with southern white culture.Once you know it’s obvious and It even sounds similar to traditional African guitars .Thank you for bringing us the real story .
  • "the way they looked at the world wasnt the same, but the way that they looked at eachother, there was the flame" Giddens. So very emotive. What a talent

I have goosebumps and watery eyes from this interview! One of my favourite artist of all time interviewed brilliantly by my favourite journalist. Rhiannon as of yet, hasn't received the commercial success she very much deserves.
