The U.S.S Enterprise-A was the second Federation Starship to bear the name Enterprise. Of course, she succeeded the original Federation Starship Enterprise, which had a lasting legacy and easily became one of the most legendary starships within Starfleet, if not the entire galaxy.

  • That scream during the transportor accident during TMP is STILL HAUNTING!
  • @SirEpifire
That scene of the fatal transporter, haunted me for years when I saw that as a kid. Still gives me the chills.

Refit Constitution Class is and will always be my favorite ship. It’s the Ship I was introduced to when I became a ST fan back in the TWOK debut in 82’
  • One thing I didn't see mentioned here is that, I forget if this is canon, the Enterprise A in the prime timeline wasn't built specifically for Kirk, it was rechristened Enterprise with the original being the USS Yorktown NCC-1717. In the Kelvin Timeline, there's a nice little George Lucas "it's like poetry, it rhymes" moment where the Enterprise A was built at Starbase Yorktown.
  • I love the Enterprise A. Was glad to see she got a place at the fleet museum. I named my current car after her and bears her name and registration number on the back.
  • Absolutely STUNNING ship. They really did a nice job upgrading from the original with this refit
  • @stormhawk31
Love the A. It's my favorite Enterprise. My next favorite ship is the Excelsior. The ships of that era had a certain beauty to them that the later ones lost.
  • @Emanon...
John Talbot is such an amazing actor. He voiced Jon Irenicus in Baldurs Gate 2 as well. Epic.
  • @thehayguy
I love the callback joke😂😂 "poor stardrive". Please work that into more videos. I laugh every time and am still smiling hours later thinking about it😊

The Enterprise-A definitely earned her place in history, but I would rate the Enterprise-C higher in that category. The Enterprise-A helped save the Khitomer Conference and the tentative treaty with the Klingons--but it was the sacrifice of the Enterprise-C at Narendra III that REALLY impressed the Klingons and turned that tenuous treaty into an official alliance with the Federation.

I grew up with TOS and the Enterprise-1701 and the Enterprise-1701A are my favs. Something about the shape of the saucer. As a model builder, I have always appreciated their lines. Nothing against the newer models, especially the " E " model. Oh yeah. They carry the name well. I know the first two are dated, but then again so am I. Thank you for posting. Take care and God Bless from Florida.
  • The scene of the Enterprise burning across the sky still gives me chills.
  • @kaneo1
"..a Conie II class..." THANK YOU for saying it, it felt like I was the only YT commentor calling the Refits Constitution II-class in the comments. PS, the A had a multi-year history before the rename, either as Yorktown (was she a 30-year old Conie I?) or Ti Ho (Mr. Scott's Guide ro the Enterprise). Kirk wasn't rewarded with a brand new ship, he was given what was available, and informally told 'now this wreck is your problem.'
  • 9:08 correction: the enterprise was sent to escort kronos 1 to the meeting on earth originally. the meeting location changed to khitomer only after the assassination at the request the new chancellor.
  • @TaliaIGhul
I nearly sobbed out of happiness seeing the-A being in the museum because it's probably the last thing from Kirk's legacy to survive. It's also my favorite ship from the Enterprise lineage. Oh and about the Borg, let them rest. They have been done to death and it's time to move on to new enemies. P.S. I love your commentary on Star Trek. It's pretty funny, especially that "POOR STARDRIVE" bit in the Enterprise-D video.
  • @michaelm54877
I like that the shuttle on the A was still steam powered.
  • I have wanted to see the Enterprise a back on screen since they launched the Next Generation. This is by far my favorite ship the way it's designed laid out overall aesthetic. Like Jack Crusher said I'm definitely a constitution man
  • @donise8406
The first Enterprise will always bring a tear to my eye, just like your first car as she was my first back in 1969, yes there was a time you had to wait a week to see the next show.
  • @JazmanGames
I recall reading somewhere that Kirk and Crew were given a dysfunctional Enterprise A on purpose as part of their punishment. Can't find that source any more though. But given recent portrayals of Starfleets not so nice side, it would make sense.
