The Shah of Iran's $600M Party that broke a Nation | DECADENCE AND DOWNFALL | Middle East Conflicts

Published 2023-10-10
In 1971, the Shah of Iran, the self-proclaimed 'king of kings', celebrated 2,500 years of the Persian monarchy by throwing the greatest party in history. Money was no object
Every party leaves a few hangovers. This one left a country reeling, never to recover. It crystallised the opposition, led by the Ayatollah Khomeini. More than any other event, this party marked the break between the king of kings and the people of Iran he reigned over.

  • That was when Iran was a “friend” to the US, and of course, you will never hear the word “dictator” from the press described the Iran’s shah !!! 🤣🤣🤣

Wasted money aside, this event looks beyond tacky. OMG, I would be so embarrassed. I do like the concept of "2500 years of Iranian civilization" though. They could have done something involving museums across the country and cultural events and performances for the people, rather than a lavish party for the Monarch, where only rich people were invited, and on govt money no less. That's so beyond arrogant and batshit crazy. He made it about himself, and not about the country's 2500 birthday.

Sadly, none of those countries had the courage to host the ailing Shah, except for Egypt's Sadat. May he and the Shah rest in eternal peace

  • @Aeon-ys7gt
We have a simple question: they are who talking against the shah government: what they do for people and we are feeling and watching what they bring to Iran under the name of revolution : it’s so sad

When are the Iranian people happier in Shah monarchy or Islamic theocracy?
  • to be a masters of lies is under statement you know that they had oil in a time of industrial booming I do not think that was the main reason of his down fall of the Shah, Iranian in their nature are very generoce, the fact that he was a friends with the West in a time of intence conflicts that could be the main reason but a party that a small part of it is unsignificant to the other things that they disliked about his time
