  • I dropped out of my PhD program because I was so full of self doubt and shame. I never felt like I belonged and was so selfconscious about the fact that I was the only black person, I was in a big name program and everyone else had come from big name or ivy league schools, I never felt smart enough or really worthy and any mistake felt like a painful death. When I walked into a room I just felt like they could see my uneducated crackhead mother, my wayward father, my years of homelessness, and my then crumbling marriage. It was overwhelming and sadly I folded and now there is no space financially for me to go back. I don't have many regrets but this is definitely one. That I did fight and beat back my shame and fear.... Thank you so much for being who you are and making me face myself and grow.
  • I just want to say that i am going through such a hard time right now and no money for therapy and Russell Brand's videos and podcasts have literally become my therapy. I am so grateful that this is available. Thank you!
  • "when you avoid conflict to make peace with other people, you start a war within" Thank you, zoned in on a conflict within me <3
  • "Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself" Rumi
  • 1:02:42 “When you avoid conflict to make peace with other people, you start a war within.” ❤️
  • This interview changed my life! "People that are most compassionate have boundaries of steel. They don't let others hurt them." Love you both. Thank you.
  • @abosaurus
Something about Brene talking about the domestic violence survivors recognizing that their abuser was doing the best they could and that’s why they needed to leave reallllly hit home for me. What an amazing conversation.
  • "Pain that is not transformed will always be transmitted."
  • "I can find God in you, I can find Love in you, but I'm going to still hold you accountable for what you've done." That was amazing. My favourite interview yet. Thank you
  • Coming up on six years July 22, 2016 I flew 3000 miles to go to rehab for drinking and my therapist play the Ted talk of Brené Brown and I can definitely say that she helped me change my life❣️
  • When you avoid conflict to make peace with other people, you start a war within. That hits me so hard and I am so grateful to have heard it and have the capacity to keep it with me. I would have trouble doing it past the "take it easy" part as well.
  • Brene (to her husband Steve): "Do you think people are doing the best they can?" Steve: "I have no idea but what I do know is my life is better when I assume they are."
  • I ended months of professional bullying with the phrase "I'm doing the best I can". It healed me to stand in my power like that, and knocked them back long enough to find another job and a promotion.
  • “If you want to take over the world you only do a couple things. Make sure that you exacerbate peoples fear and uncertainty and then deliver a enemy that they can blame for their fear and uncertainty”. Sounds like the weapon our political leaders are using all around the world at this time. We must come together. They are winning.
  • “Pain that is not transformed will always be transmitted” That quote struck me like a lightning bolt and suddenly my life flashed before eyes. Somehow I ended up here and this conversation has added to my 1 year sober awakening. Every day I get stronger unfortunately the regret will always tear me apart.
