Interrupting this with ads is a crime against mankind

The advertisements in the middle of a beautiful piece of music are unconscionable

Wagner shows us again and again that heaven and earth are connected via the bridge of music and that sometimes it only takes a few of his mighty melodies to bring us a little closer to this heavenly realm. Long live he and his music!

Over 60 years ago I played this with a symphonic band and a symphony orchestra and I remember it clearly to this day. Marvelous work of art.

Here's a tip: At the beginning of any video, scroll the progress bar completely to the end and click "restart" to bypass the ads during the video.
  • Im sure there is a special place in hell for those who put ads in classical music.
  • I first heard this piece when l was 22...l was utterly flabbergasted...today l listened to it again and l felt differently...it still marvelled me but l could follow Wagner's hand (and mind) from the 1st to the last note...l'm 73 now...growing old is not so bad as they say (as long as you're healthy)...it gives you perspective & insight...

I can hear him… laughing maniacally at all of them falling. And oh boy, was it glorious…

I come here every time I feel nothing, then I get goosebumps as a reminder that I can still feel things

Schlatt's taste in music is excellent. He knows what classical piece has the most suspense, build up, and beat drop. Tannhäuser Overture, one of my favorite musical masterpieces, has perfectly captured the purge that Schlatt had committed.

i love every milliseconds of it but, listening the last 3 minutes is like feeling again all the joys and all the pains of my life, all togheter in the glory
  • I feel like Big Guy himself stumbled upon this and realized, “I know what I must do.”
  • I miss the days when Saturday morning cartoons introduced me to some of the greatest classical works in history.

'For the first time I saw the Rhine - with hot tears in my eyes, I, poor artist, swore eternal fidelity to my German fatherland.' - Richard Wagner
  • This is pure greatness. The ending, the always very important part of any composition of that period, opens towards the infinite by dragging us to another place where it is all majestic.

I enjoyed the Opera in Frankfurt in June 2024! Brilliant Performance with approx. 20 mins standing Ovations after it! Still facinating is this opening which reflects the content of the opera best! I love it!
  • I watched a documentary once and it said the Richard Wagner was the first to really load the bottom end of the orchestra. There was so much bass that it literally shook the rafters, with dust and debris falling down on the audience in some cases. He even had what is known as an octa-bass (spelling?) that was twice the size of a regular bass and took two musicians to play. A real showman.

For anyone wondering, I believe the performers are Klaus Tennstedt and the Berliner Philharmoniker
