Published 2024-02-28
Thinking of buying an Italian countryside property to renovate and restore or want to live in Italy and wonder how much it costs to live in Italy? Italian property tax explained. Tips on how to find and search for cheap Italian property. How do you find the bargain houses and one euro houses. How does the Italian purchase process works? What are the taxes, utility bills, and costs to live in Italy? Why you should you choose Italy as a place to renovate or build your dream Italian home? What visas and travel permits do I use required for Italy. Which is the best Italian region to buy a house in?

So many questions. Thank you for sending them in. How did I find the house, how much did it cost, how does the buying process work in Italy, what was I told before I bought compared to what I know now after owning a home in Italy. Plus, why did I choose Italy and Le Marche region with a little more on the Italian lifestyle and how much I love it here.

This is extra content to my main renovation project and channel which is about my restoration of a small countryside farmhouse in the Le Marche region of Italy. Raw and unfiltered detailed tips on what to do if you are looking to move to Italy, like me.

Corinaldo, Senigallia, the Conero Coast, Sirolo and Numana are all locations within Le Marche that I filmed this video to share my experience and my top tips.

The video that I suggest in the ‘Why did I choose Italy’ section is The fortune of being born in Italy by Oscar Farinetti. Skip to around 4:15 for the juicy bits if you only want to watch half of it.    • Oscar Farinetti - La fortuna di nasce...

  • It’s a chatty one. A massive subject to cover and I tried to keep it under 30 mins! See the chapters to skip around and, as always, please feel free to ask me more. Apologies if I missed some questions that were sent in but I hope I covered all the most popular questions.

Back to normal content for the next video…I will add the video about the planning next week or the week after. Lots going on this end - website coming soon which will have blogs covering the details, in detail.

Thanks all. *doing a new kit sound test on a windy coast was a bit gutsy / foolish!

Hi, I’m Alex, I live in Eastbourne but I’m actually half Italian and lived in Tuscany for the first 19 years of my life, now that kids have grown up we want to move back to Italy and been thinking about Le Marche as my preferred choice. I work for Sussex police and it was actually my Sargent that told me about you , so here I am watching your videos . Just wanted to say that they are great and you’ve definitely helped me making my mind up regarding whether to go back to Tuscany or chose Le Marche. Next year I will be taking a month of work and arrange to view property, would be great to even meet up if you fancy , if you are there . Keep up the good work, well done 👍
  • You should do a video on the journey from England to Italy - all the beautiful places along the way.

I've stayed up at castelluccio (wild camping about 23 years ago) and loved the area. As I get older the area keeps coming back to me in day dreams. My needs for a foreign home are almost identical to yourself so these videos are bloody useful. Thanks. Enjoy yourself.

My wife and I loved this video as it was exactly what we were looking for as we have started looking at finding a property in Italy, in particular in the regions of Marche, Umbria or Abruzzo. Keep up the great videos.

I’ve been looking ever since I watched your first video of cleaning up your property. Thanks for all The info!
  • Great video! Thank you for sharing the details. I bought a house in Abruzzo, and the notaio and real estate agent fees were higher. You are right that the fees vary from region to region!

This is a great overview of your decision process, how you narrowed down on a region, location, and the final property as well as financials. Good luck with your rennovation process.

Glad I have found your channel. I'm from Osimo and I moved to Norway ten years ago. I miss my region, and hearing you taking about it make me very proud. I will follow you along, good luck 💚
  • @secretspoleto
Love this! It’s just so right, and great advice. All the same reasons we bought in Spoleto too. When you look back on it all now you see how far you came! I still feel like it was a dream even tho we’ve owned ours for 8 months now! Saying that wouldn’t do it again in a hurry - I hated sending the money over to the notary that was a worry I thought! And the renovation work just keeps on giving too but we just love Italy too. If you’re ever over the other side of those mountains come to spoleto :)
