Bond (Pierce Brosnan) and Gustav Graves (Toby Stephens) duel it out in the corridors of the Blades Club in DIE ANOTHER DAY (2002). The sword fight was choreographed by former Olympic fencer Bob Anderson who also doubled for Darth Vader in the Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi’s lightsaber duels.

  • The level of sarcasm in Bonds voice "Oh dear! You want to continue". kills me every time. He's the ultimate troll.

"OF COURSE I WANNA BLOODY CONTINUE!!" As an englishman this cracks me up everytime hahaha
  • i love how bond has had like 30 lifetimes in which to practice all sorts of random skills to a very high level

I like how Bond's killer instinct kicks in near the the end. Graves is a good fighter, but Bond is an experienced, professional assassin!

This movie is one of my guilty pleasures. Brosnan is MY Bond. Toby Stephens hamming it up and loving it. Halle Berry and Rosamund Pike are both great Bond girls. Weird theme song. Great locations. That hovercraft chase. Cool cars. Fun henchmen. Just overall silliness. I love it.
  • This Bond scene is all by itself, the way it starts off normally, then just keeps escalating. Very well done.

I find the way Gustav casually defuses the situation hilarious.

This is the ultimate definition of a guilty pleasure, I mean come on this scene is awesome.

Gentlemen, you can't fight in here, it's the war room!

Is it just me, or is the audio WAY too quiet in this clip?

This was high octane. I’m really impressed by the choreography and intensity.

Wasn't one of the best Bond films, but I still consider this scene to be one of the best sword-fighting scenes. They really look like they're going after each other rather than the usual tip-tap shit you see in films.
  • 2:18 Pierce Brosnan showing off his comedic chops lol, that whole facial gesture was bloody brilliant

I love how Toby Stephens clearly worked out for the role; hence, he wore a sleeveless top. And Pierce never bothered with lifting weights, and relied on his looks and charm; hence, a long sleeve top.

Everything about this scene is perfection from the moment Bond & Graves begin fighting: the editing, the escalating tension of the magnificent music, the sound design, the general continuity between shots, and most of all the background extras who are all acting “appropriately” (within the context of the film): intensely interested, excited, shocked, scared, amused. Every aspect of sells the action and the escalating hostility between Bond and Graves.
