Love to see that research is backing up that running is a rotation of the core/spine.

Hey good video Taren! Hey Taren I wanted to ask your opinion on being a distance runner 13.1 and full marathon runner so u think doing heavy bench pressing 5 sets of 5 reps and heavy upper body lifting is detrimental to my running? Or will slow me down and hurt my running performance ? Do u think it’s better to lift lighter upper body? Reason I ask I hear many other runners say same thing . And I did notice when I had take 3 weeks off from pectoral injury my tempo run after not doing chest heavy for 3 weeks my tempo run felt faster and I could hold it at an easier effort. I like doing heavy bench pressing and deadlifting help my core but I wonder if it’s slowing me down. What do u think
  • I would think the upper body mobility gained from swimming would aid that in running, so all the more reason to do triathlon right? 😊

I've literally spent the last six months trying to remove that rotation from my run because I felt like it was "bad form." 🤦

Of course, I have no way of determining how much energy I use .... but there's no doubt that I can run faster when using arms and shoulders. I consider my arms to be my gas pedal. 🙂

It reduces the chances of runners' knees & lower back pain also.
  • Kelvin Kiptum's running form has that slight rotation of the torso as mentioned in this vid, I believe. 🤔
