GTA Online for the Xbox 360 and PS3 shut down on December 16th, 2021. I managed to play it one more time before the servers went offline indefinitely to experience the memories of what it was like to play a vastly different GTA Online compared to what we have today.

  • A lonely guy launching 3 fireworks in an empty parking lot. What a fitting end to GTA Online old gen xD
  • Watching this was actually kinda emotional. Thinking about the fact that this game has been a part of my life for over 7 years. I would pay alot to have the good old times back
  • Rest in peace for the old consoles in gta online 2013-2021 you will be remembered
  • Wtf I didn’t even realize this was a 25 min video until after I watched it! Felt like 10 lol. This hit me right in the feels. Used to play this with a friend on 360 who has since passed away. Thanks for bringing back good memories! Love this!

I remember getting home from school to play this and BO2 multiplayer. Wish i could relive it one last time
  • Despite it being unplayable in its first week, those who hopped on that special time in 2013 didn't know they'd be part of something that'd make a part of gaming history. Whether that's good or bad, that's entirely upto how you look at it, because it has brought both.
  • Don’t care how old i am, the day gta5 online servers go down all together will be a sad one. Too many memories.
  • I remember when i first logged in in the summer of 2014. The Independence Day update was the newest, and the lobby was chaotic as per usual. However, the chaos of a 2014 online lobby is far different than a chotic lobby now. Zentorno drive-bys were the meta unless you stole a tank or jet. I remember that my first friendly player was a guy fully decorated in Independence Day attire. Riding in the Liberator monster truck looking like Uncle Sam. He picked me up and drove me to a grassy park in the middle of the city. He put some fireworks on the ground, and we watched as they went up into the sky. It was surreal, and I will never forget it. Rip GTA Online on 360/PS3
  • I played until the last day on PS3, it was the best game to play with my friend, we used to race all the time, it was beautiful
  • That Minecraft music just brings in the feels even stronger at the start. Also gotta love the story mode pause menu theme and those old OSTs like ELC. Also liked how long drive-bys were instead of always ending in explosives.
  • Early 2014 was the time I had the most fun with the game. Fighting in lobbies was fun, the contact missions were fun, nothing was overpriced (except the Titan maybe) and this was before the Rhino nerf. Back then, if someone killed you, they usually bested you (either outgunned you or outplayed you) or it was a Tank. Tanks were not invincible (though they were tough) but you felt very strong in them. Jets were very rare and the ones you saw usually weren't very dangerous or were non hostile. Man those were some good times.
  • A wise man says, don't cry because its over, smile because it's happened.
  • Dude. The 360 GTA online days. Wow. I remember playing Day One and before the heists were released my friends and I would argue about who would be the getaway driver/helicopter pilot. Great great days 🤟 *Edit This is so crazy never had 1k likes on a comment very thankful for you guys all relating to my short story.

Brings a grown man to tears

Who knew that after 8 years of this being released it would still be one of my favourite games of all time. I still remember 10 year old me getting it for Christmas and playing it the second I put it in my Xbox. So many memories made on old gen, its sad to see it go but it is a good reminder to cherish moments like that while you still can.
  • My brother got the game in 2014 I was 9 he was 17 we played together everyday, he passed after a drunk driver hit him just 2 years later in 2016. I still get on his account on 360 and play his old games. Miss you Bradley 1997-2016
  • The good days of gta online, where it all began remember getting this game when it first came out and I remember being really excited and I finished the story before online came out, ah the good memories of 1st gen
  • @kamemelia
I'll always remember classic gta online, I spent dozens of hours after school with some friends, doing missions, beating the heists together and spending it on cars afterwards, playing races and custom deathmatches, etc, we really felt like the bosses of the city honestly, specially after hitting level 100. There was also the glitches to get rare cars or those times when glitched outfits were a new and cool thing. It's sad to see the ps3 and xbox 360 version go away but I'm always going to remember those times with a smile
  • I love the excitement yet sadness in his voice, its the same voice you have when you are talking about memories with a friend who is about to pass, or talking to a sick family pet that is being put down, its sad but you are remembering all the old good times

Whenever a company plans on shutting down the servers for a game they should release an update changing online from server-based to peer-to-peer. It wouldn’t be the best but it’d still preserve the game for the people that want to go back and experience it.
