I'm pretty sure you told him, "This is not the drone you're looking for"
  • @MarcStollmeyer
Hey look a drone guy who isn't afraid of the government. We sir are a rare breed.
  • @greatredscott
There is something peaceful about listening to you that I like. You Sind like a nice uncle telling a story at the dinner table. Thank you for that moment of happiness.
  • @sqlblindman
Wait...who downvotes a video about a responsible drone pilot having a respectful conversation with a helpful government official? Seriously....
  • @Deqster
This means our tax dollars are paying gov't employees to watch youtube.... awesome.

This is why it's still good to maintain a land line. I haven't answered my land line at home in over 2 years but it's good to have a number to use on website registrations, credit card applications etc. where you never really want to hear from anyone. All I use is the cell.
  • Former AMA member and RC pilot here, too. Thanks for posting, sharing links, and being respectful. A little bit of respect for self, neighbors, and public officials goes a long way, as you demonstrated.
  • @Themightymoze
Thank you for putting all this incredibly useful information in one place!
  • @PlasmaBurns
I would NEVER register my guns, why the fuck would I register my remote control toy? The FAA can suck it. Section 336 of the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012, which states that the agency may not create new rules if such model aircraft are "flown strictly for hobby or recreational use."

We should all be calling the FAA about the governments drones.
  • First time learning about FAA. And when I watched this I thought he'd go on and on and on and cry or something. But this dude was relaxed and funny! Subscribed! Keep it up.
  • I just bought a Phantom, I took it on a test flight, I was below 50' and just few around an empty parking lot to get used to the controls. I've been working all week and haven't been able to take it out. I'm off tomorrow and I've spent the past 5 days reading every regulation and safety tip..I registered with the FAA and put the reg# on the drone...I just need to let the tower at my local airport know I'm flying and I'm good to go Thanks for posting this video...if the FAA called me I wouldn't be able to wear these pants ever again
  • The ten most dangerous words you'll hear: "I'm from the government, and I am here to help" EDIT: after reading some other comments something came to mind. So, an agent from the FAA lurks through YouTube. He is tasked with finding drone videos, getting your personal contact information, and then calling you at home to ask for a one on one meeting to discuss safety. That drone? Government agent... personal meet and great.... Oh do I feel dumb now. This guy can't be believed. Easy enough to make this recording... too bad you didn't think to record that conversation. Or better yet, take that meeting and record that.

Isnt it nice that the FAA has time to watch Youtube all day so they can call you and tell you what they think is wrong..
  • @GunnyJeffers
I just took and passed my FAA pt. 107 test today after a few days of heavy duty on-line study. What this means to you is that if your drone is used for "furtherance" of a business, you are required to take the 107 test. If flying your drone over your farm results in "commercial profit", you must hold a license from the FAA. While my YouTube channel isn't monetized I could post drone videos all day without a problem, I chose to study, then pay for the test and I'm glad I did. I have a "for profit" video to produce in two days. Better safe then fined! Semper Fly! Gunny J. OUT!

Great job Sir, well done w/ humor. Get your quad in the air and have fun. Keep passing on knowledge.

Register my drone?  Register my firearms?  This video probably originated from the FAA.  Kiss my ass bureaucrats.  Wipe the fingerprints and maybe use a little bit of household bleach to destroy any DNA from your drone, fly it responsibly, and don't give the damn government any more of your money, and don't give them anything else either.  Do any of you remember about the kid in forth grade that admitted to the teacher that he threw the spitball?  Did he get off easy?  Of course not, he had the whole book thrown at him, he was made an example of to the whole class.  This is the same thing.  Don't be a sucker.

I'm a pilot, and I completely agree that people need to be aware of rules and guidelines. I'm seeing a lot of drone footage of people flying their drone at well over 500ft AGL (actual ground level), and at that altitude you are liable to run into civilian and commercial aircraft. Birds have been proven to be able to take down planes, and so can a drone. It's time for people to be more self aware of the rules, and (not be punished per say) be held accountable for creating a possibly dangerous airspace.
  • @Dieseltorq
Awesome Thank you for all this information I am getting my first drone next month and just registered with the FAA going to be going for my license test next week.. Thank you again !!!!!
