Edit: it's unclear whether or not the E3 2021 Construct is actually a Ranger - it could just as easily be a different, bigger version! What do you think?
  • @Fenriskoll
They look like they could possibly be made of copper, the outside of which has oxidized due to long contact with rain, while the inside is still shiny orange. What a beautiful design. I'm in absolute love with these enemies. I think there is probably a deeper reason for the choice of copper as a material besides showing the age of these constructs.
  • hope they also have a scary piano sound when they see you halfway across the sky islands

I love how those ranger constructs just being there peacefully and so absorbed into their own cleaning jobs. They are so cute. In BoTW my Link felt so lonely, it's lovely to have some of friendly native around. The BGM here awakened my memory of exploring in Lanayru Desert and the encounters of these lovely white Jomon-styled robots, as if thousand years has passed in-between .
  • It would be interesting if the Zonai were revealed to be the same people who once inhabited Lanayru who made the robots there. They harnessed time shift stones, and Link’s recall ability also shifts time in a way.

I love how the color scheme for the sky islands is yellow and green: just like Link with his yellow hair and green tunic. The Zonai and Link both stand out as dark green shapes in the bright yellow grass. It's a subtle touch that makes the islands feel fresh

I dunno about you guys but I feel like the ranger construct that appeared much bigger in the trailer kinda looks like it could be looking at link as if he was lying on the ground and just woke up. Could be a cutscene just after link first arrives on a sky island, it would make sense to be greeted by a peaceful construct wondering why link is even there.

Zeltik is on fire with all these analysis videos! this man is a machine xD
  • I still think that first Ranger Construct we saw is bigger than the others at least, but with seeing thr others now I think it's most likely this one is looking at Link as he's laying on the ground having just woken up or something along those lines.
  • I myself was instantly reminded of Armos and Beamos, particularly the Armos in The Minish Cap, which were built for the *Wind Tribe*. The Wind Tribe, who raised their home above the clouds.
  • @ebusive
I can't help but notice the fact that the ranger constructs have guardian-like arms. I wonder how deep the connection between the Sheikah and Zonai run. I'm wondering if the Zonai are just an offshoot of the Sheikah, like the Yiga

Not construct related, but I feel the comment about the tree was WAY more relevant than anyone is talking about. He said you won't see those much on the surface, which to me means one of two things. Either the tree died out on the surface long ago, or the tree isn't native to Hyrule and is from somewhere beyond their borders. I also wonder if there's a connection between the why the Zonai and why the Shiekah disappeared.
  • @Demobunny
2:18 although they seem similar there's still some differences between the ranger and the golem, the golem has earrings, bigger hands, a slightly different head, and of course, is much bigger in size
  • @lilkorok
the little constructs very much remind me of the ancient robots from skyward sword :) looking forward to all the totk content, thanks for another great video! 👍

My personal theory is that the Zonai, while being a similar tribe to the Sheikah, is actually an older one in itself mainly devoted to the worship of the Goddess(es?) or were a tribe of lesser gods themselves. They seem more priest like in devotion (given that their architecture and land is inspired off of Japanese Shrines, while the Shiekah is more closely inspired by the Shinobi.) As said in the video, they have had this ancient advanced technology from the time Hylia fought Demise, and could have even been the ones responsible for the construction of the tower of the Gods (or even the flooding of Hyrule). The Interlopers could also have been an offshoot of the Zonai from given that the timing lines up and the design of the fused shadow is reminiscent of the design of these constructs. If anything we at least know they were responsible for constructing the 3 holy springs in BOTW, and by extension the first 3 temples in Skyward sword. I know there are a few holes in my theory considering the lore said they were a barbaric tribe, and I admit its kinda a "if we don't know who, then the Zonai did it" theory, but a lot of things seem to line up a bit too well.
  • @gamezx
the zonai are a weird case cus it feels like there's 2 completely different versions of them. In botw they're described as prehistoric barbarians and everything associated with them was primitively carved rock, yet now they're suddenly a super advanced people making magic robots equal to the sheikah Then there's the strangest thing of all, since we can now say the hand sealing ganon up is infact zonai tech, then why does the barbarian armor (which we know was made by the zonai) look like ganon armor? Is this gonna be another yiga style thing where the tribe split and half of them went barbarian in service to ganon?
  • What’s crazy is this video is based on the sky islands and we still have a whole map underneath us to rediscover, I’m blown away by this gameplay video and love how deep zeltik can take us there, Keep up the great work!
  • i’m so excited to experience this game along everyone- i played botw long after its release, so playing totk for the first time with everyone else is gonna be so fun
  • @GunRunner106
I believe aonuma referred to the robot constructs as "golems" in japanese. just as a small side note.
  • As an artist, I approach this from a purely visual perspective. The shiekah tech looked great, but the Zonai tech looks incredible. The teal-grean mosaic stone, the ring patterns laced with energy, stacking eyes and mouths like a jumbled totem pole, it's so original! Character design was always my favorite thing in the Zelda series and they're knocking this out of the park.
