Labour MP Jess Phillips is back with Beth and Ruth to un-pick the election results.

On this episode they discuss how Jess was heckled when she narrowly held her seat of Birmingham Yardley.

They also look at the wider Labour results and talk about Rishi Sunak’s resignation speech, as well as discussing why Reform and the Liberal Democrats took seats from the two main parties.

In response to this episode, the Workers Party of Britain said:

"Labour are on their way out in Birmingham, because of their betrayal of ordinary people.

"We will keep banging the drum and rid Labour from this great city."

"Get it fcuking done" -- Jess Phillips

Finally, a Labour party member admits that they have no control or say over the situation in Gaza! I'm shocked by this statement of truth!

I don’t always agree with Jess Philips’ politics, but by god she has principles and she sticks by them. She took those hecklers head on at the election and more power to her. This is an MP that has championed women’s rights unfailingly, but still a few idiots try to silence her because they disagree with her party on one issue. Total disgrace, the country would be so much better if we had more MPs like her. We need MPs who champion real causes and speak truth to power. Respect to her.

Ruth says she couldn't have done a speech if she went through what Jess did, but if the other option is Trussing it out the back door, I think she would stand and fight

What Jess had to endure at the hands of Galloways mob is beyond disgusting

I am so proud that Jess was returned as the representative MP for her constituents/constituency. She is a textbook example of what an MP should be: has a deep experience of serving her local community; has a deep experience of public service; didn’t get into politics for self-promotion and; is truly committed to improving her community and wider society. Well done, Jess. And continued well done to Beth, Jess & Ruth for this alternative platform of opinions.

The “Hareeeebos” caught me off guard. Also, Angela Rayner saying “it’s got a fridge” tickled me. Great episode and congratulations to Jess! Well done to all the labour family!

The way jess was treated was completely unacceptable at the count and procedures should be in place to prevent such a thing to happen again. Extremism of any kind, left, right and up and down, has no place in the UK.

Glad to have (still an MP) Jess Phillips back.

Jess' victory speech was fabulous. Well done for calling them out.
  • I watched Sky overnight. I don't think Beth got enough airtime! I kept thinking, what does Beth think?!

I want the new MPs to commit to being members of parliament and not take second jobs

I've always had a marmite feeling towards Jess Phillips, she's a great advocate for women's rights and is a real critical thinker in parliament. At times I have completely disagreed with her and did not like her factionalism in Labour whilst during the Corbyn years. However, the treatment she has been getting from her constituent opponent is disgusting and completely unjustifiable. We're a functioning democracy and whilst people are free to voice their concerns, people should always be mindful that MPs are actually people who work for us, whether we agree on their methods/attitudes or not.

Fantastic work. Followed Beth and Ruth from a small cottage in Sweden during the night and until 7 in morning here (we're an hour earlier here) and it was a joy to watch.
  • Jess was so gutsy at the count & at resisting the thugs. !00% respect from Holborn.
  • While I do feel sorry for Jess and what she has had to go through in this campaign and I hope it doesn't happen again; as a Lib Dem activist this is what I and many of my friends/colleagues had to deal with for years from Labour activists under the leadership of Miliband and Corbyn.
