St. Nektarios was one of the most influential figures in Orthodoxy during the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century and yet during his lifetime he suffered unjust persecution, often lived in poverty and was ridiculed and marginalized by those of the world who judge only by appearances and hearsay. Yet, when we look back with the advantage of time, we can see a devout Christian who throughout his life put into practice everything that Christ taught. When persecuted and reviled, Nektarios blessed. When evil tried to overcome him, he overcame evil with good.

  • I converted to Orthodoxy in 1984 from a protestant home. I knew I found the true Church when I learned about and recieved Holy Communion and other Sacraments.. The Holy Scriptures plus the Lives of the Saints made Christianity complete for me. My suggestion is to learn to pray the Liturgy. You are welcome here! Glory to God!!!
  • I’m an “inquirer” from a Protestant background and have been so blessed by these incredible documentaries. LOVE learning about the Saints! 🙏🏻

It is holy men like St. Nektarios that remind me how utterly unworthy I am of the gift of Heaven. St. Nektarios, pray for us.
  • Pray for us Saint Father Nektarios. We Orthodox Christians are facing hard times everywhere. Please ask the Lord to strengthen the Church and all your servants. ☦️☦️☦️Amin☦️☦️☦️
  • WOW! That is all I can say! I am a new catechumen in the Church, and I found - due to this video - that St. Nektarios indirectly contributed to my conversion. One of my first introductions into Orthodoxy was hearing the 'Oh Virgin Pure' hymn. I first heard it in Greek, and was utterly clueless as to what was being sung; yet I was enraptured by its beauty. When I heard the narrator say that Nektarios wrote the words to the hymn, I felt chills rolling up my spine. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me! I am utterly unworthy, yet through His grace and by His mercy, I have hope in the Resurrection. St. Nektarios, please pray for me a sinner! I thank you deeply for your intercessions!
  • If you go to his grave in aegina and put your nose on His concrete coffin, you will smell fragrances like roses. I know this because it happened to me when i was 18. Glory to God in the highest!!!! Anyone can go there and witness this on any day!

My grandfather was from Idra Greece, and when he was a little boy (in the 1930s mind you), he had met St. Nektarios with some friends when they were looking for some food/fishing. I believe that when they had caught some, they encountered him and gave him one. He only learned many years later that St Nektarios had passed away before he was born in 1920! A true miracle!

  • In such evil times a story of such holiness brings tears of joy in knowing that the lovers of Christ are not so alone, but that we have our brothers/sisters- the Saints who have gone before us, to inspire and motivate us to continue our sojourning in this valley of tears. +St. Nektarios, bless you, we love you, please help us.+

My Papou and Yiayia took my family to Aegina. My father is not a religious man although he grew up Orthodox. We had but an hour left, and would not be able to return to Athens if we missed the boat. My father had a sporadic and intense conviction to reach the Cathedral of St. Nektarios. My family was very stressed that we would miss our boat but he insisted that we go and threw us in a taxi to see the Cathedral. Something led him to believe that it was of utmost importance that we visit if only for a half hour. I remember its beauty vividly. When it was time to go, it was clear that we would not make it back in time and would remain on Aegina until we found the opportunity to return. The rest of our trip was on a strict timeline, and my Yiayia was convinced that my father had ruined the trip carelessly. I’ll never truly know what came over my father as he had no religious inclination to go. He knew little of Saint Nektarios, if anything other than it was the Cathedral of his namesake. The boat was late in its departure. Our trip continued along its timeline. I will forever be convinced that the Holy Spirit worked through my father to bring us an experience we would not forget, and that God intervened to delay the boat just as Saint Nektarios boat was delayed as a child. It was completely out of character for him. I could see in his eyes that something had come over him. We both felt extreme peace and had no worries whatsoever that our trip would be disrupted. It may seem like a small thing to others, but I will never forget this treasured memory. Thank you for this wonderful documentary. I pray for the well being of your Church and its parishioners in Marietta.
  • @OrthodoxLife
Pray for us, dear Pappouli, and strengthen us in these difficult days. Strengthen our hierarchs who seem to be straying and not serving Christ, and not encouraging us spiritually in these days when we need their guidance. Give them just a fraction of the grace you had, please…
  • What a beautiful film. I'm a traditional Catholic and obviously, I'd never heard of St Nektarios. His holy life has a striking resemblance to St Pio of Pietrelcina who was also taunted and persecuted during his earthly life and by the Evil One. He is also incorrupt. Both of these holy men had a deep devotion to the Theotokos/Our Lady. Deo gratias for them. We need more like them now as the influence of the Evil One has increased and continues to increase. Kyrie eleison, Christe eleison, Kyrie eleison.
  • I’ve visited the monastery in Aegina twice, and the second time I was very lucky to see his private residence, Amazing, you can feel his presence 🙏
  • I've always wanted to know about the great Saint. His story really brings me to tears, I pray that if I just had a bit of his humility I would be at peace.
  • @nickydashank7280
I’m a recent convert to Orthodoxy was actually chrismated on my birthday funny enough not too long ago, and I picked St. Nektarios as my Patron Saint! His life of humility and forgiveness is profound! St. Nektarios pray for us!
  • OMG! I love this saint. His humility is sooo outstanding. He’s a totally selfless man and it’s Christ that lives in him. There’s so much more to say about his sanctity but of course they cannot all be included in this video. I have read his biography and hundreds of his miracles: BIG miracles! I’m blessed to have a church after his name here in California that has a piece of his relic. I used to go there to pray and meditate and kiss his relic. I haven’t been there for quite a while bc of my health but I’ll make an effort to start going again. I’m also blessed to have seen him in my dreams a few times. Very significant dreams... St Nectarios, pray for us!
