The fact that she chose to premiere this song at Billboard Women in Music instead of her own single is very telling. We will never forget you SOPHIE.
  • @hellsbbgurl
the interpolations with "its okay to cry", the raw lyrics and delivery... fucking gorgeous. we love you charli! SOPHIE forever ♥
  • @Westinpayne
SOPHIE changed electronic and pop music forever…and this is such a perfect tribute to her. truly special.

charli singing a song dedicated to a trans woman at an event honoring women is so important, especially considering how often trans women are left out of celebrations like these. love you charli and long live SOPHIE <3

I love the way Charli uses auto-tune. It's used in a way that compliments the imperfections and emotional tension in her voice. It's really cool how it's become such a signature part of her sound. Also impressive that she's able to make it sound so good live. Contrary to what people may think, you really need to have a lot of pitch control to be able to utilize auto-tune this way.

Seeing charli so vulnerable and seeing how she made the decision to perform this instead of the new single just proves she’s always challenging herself.

Honestly props to her singing this without crying cause everytime I hear it I can feel the pain she felt losing Sophie this song is so powerful
  • I love how she describes the complex feelings brought with loss. That it isn’t all black and white, and that she even regrets the way she treated Sophie? Very vulnerable stuff! ❤️‍🩹
  • @Perlesni
I really feel like a small part of Sophie’s legacy lives on with Charli’s music and she is always very vocal about her. She will keep her in the conversation.

I’ve never seen Charli so nervous before a performance but I hope she knows Sophie would be so proud of her 🙏 Thank you for honouring this pioneer of pop!

I remember during Covid breaking the rules the day Sophie died, me and this guy just connected recently over music, so we put the roof down, drove to this beach across the county lines and blasting all of the bangers, and there it was, this giant moon looking over the beach and I will NEVER forget that. literally was able to make a friend through Sophie like many of us have, and it’s wonderful how music is still going to continue to connect us. Don’t let go! And it’s okay to cry ❤️

It still feels like yesterday when she died. she was going to be the new face of electronic music
  • @jacobhthomas
brat is out now and even with the studio recording, i still find myself coming back to this video, maybe even more now than before, because it so beautifully captures charli's regret and sorrow. thank you billboard and charli <3
  • @lilxibibi
the studio version will wreck me 🥹
  • @anorisligaya
As Charli was introducing her song you can clearly tell she's holding back her tears and emotions when she said "my heart is going really really fast" and then she cut it and proceed to sing abruptly. REST IN POWER SOPHIE.🥺
  • @thebussquad
seeing this live then hearing it on brat is so special

It is clear that for Charlie Sophie was not just a producer, but a very close friend. The lines about Christmas kill. Thank you, XCX, you are brilliant! RIP SOPHIE.
