I don't mean to reproach you by saying this
I know that scares you
All of the big occasions you might have missed
No, I accept you
And I don't even need to know your reasons
It's okay
I think you sometimes you forget
I would know you best

I hope you don't take this the wrong way
But I think your inside is your best side

I, was that a teardrop in your eye?
I never thought I'd see you cry
Just know whatever hurts, it's all mine
It's okay to cry, it's okay to cry
I can see the truth through all the lies,
And even after all this time,
Just know you've got nothing to hide,
It's okay to cry, it's okay okay to cry

I remember one time you were lost,
I came to find you,
And I knocked on your front door,
That was you I'd never seen before,
And I saw the magazine you were reading,
And I read the page,
And if I had just one single wish,
Wish I could have said this,

It's okay to cry.

I, was that a teardrop in your eye?
I never thought I'd see you cry
Just know whatever hurts, it's all mine
It's okay to cry, it's okay to cry

There's a world inside you,
I wanna know what it feels like,
I wanna go there with you,
Cos we've all got a dark place,
Maybe if we shine some light there
It won't be so hard
I want to know those parts of you.

I, was that a teardrop in your eye?
I never thought I'd see you cry
Just know whatever hurts, it's all mine
It's okay to cry, it's okay to cry
I can see the truth through all the lies,
And even after all this time,
Whatever it is just know it's alright,

It's okay to cry, it's okay okay to cry
It's okay to cry, it's okay to cry

Charli did a beautiful homage to her with So I. Well done. Rest easy, Sophie

I am a 71 year old man who came across this song after looking up some of the names mentioned in a print article about something labeled ¨hyperpop¨ by the writer. I first heard this poignant and heartfelt call from a place of great loneliness, and then read that she died just last week. I am blown away. I am also reminded again of lessons I was starting to learn when, as a high school teacher, I sponsored several clubs that no other teacher wanted to lead, such as Sci-Fi, Animé, Gay/Straight Alliance. Those lessons are that there are so many people who do not fit the few standard molds, that many people hold a world of incredible treasure and hurt just behind those cautious eyes, that most of us cannot begin to imagine the lives of the many people who do not or cannot conform to the roles or identities we assign them. I also think that these musicians are reacting very realistically to the broken world they find themselves in. I deeply regret being a part of the generation that helped bring this on.

"But I accept you. I don't even need to know your reasons." A lot of people here have a lot to learn from Sophie. RIP 🙏

My dad passed away some days ago, and she is the first person who said me "it's okay to cry" instead "Boys don't cry" LOVE YOU SOPHIE

When I first saw this music video it made me cry because I know how reclusive and hidden Sophie has been until very recently. She was so impactful and had her hands in so many things that I loved. From her own music to the music in Asia that I love, thank you so much for being in this world and influencing music the way that you have. Rest in power. 💔

This now feels like a message from the beyond, telling us she’s somewhere happy and healthy and that it’s okay to miss her
  • @jaszer6148
Almost two years after her passing. I tear up thinking about this innovation and what she brought being taken away from us. We miss you whenever you are SOPHIE.

I jumped off the top of a parking garage and survived.. I'm now a paraplegic, but somehow I'm still here. She accidentally fell and didn't. I'm definitely crying, she did not deserve that. Such a beautiful song though. Rest in power 🖤💔

who's here after listening to Charli XCX's tribute "So I" from BRAT
  • This song almost literally makes me cry tears of joy because I grew up in a household where you would get yelled at and get mad at if you cry, even if with reason. So Our feelings would constantly get invalidated by my mother and father, so I would constantly repress my feelings to not cry, I even looked down of crying, I saw it as week and messy. And this song serves as a gentle reminder to me that I can’t repress my emotions forever and try not to cry, because I thought it would get me in trouble, so I guess it’s okay to cry, for me. Thank you Sophie, fly high <3
  • @benoftheweek
rest in peace <3 there will never be another artist like her :(

I found out about Sophie as a result of her death. Sadly, this is what happens to a lot of artists. That doesn't mean it's too late to love and be a fan. Beautiful work, RIP TO THE BEAUTIFUL SOPHIE

It’s been a year without Sophie, a year of questioning what she could had brought to the music artistry, a year without a daughter, a sister, a friend, a cousin, a lover, an artist, AN ICON. Her discography will remain as her most important and valuable heritage, she changed the music industry by being a pioneer on hyperpop, and I’m pretty sure she changed somebody’s life with her beautiful creations. Miss girl, you wanted to see the moon, but you’ve falled, little did you know, it’s that by falling, you departed, but now, you are with the moon, I already can imagine you smiling and telling us that it’s ok to miss you, that it’s ok to come to your music when we are feeling any kind of feelings, that it’s ok to cry.. Thank you, we miss you dear SOPHIE.
  • There is still a Sophie-shaped void in contemporary music. We miss you
