That doesn't even make any sense. You're telling me studios can make great games, not rip off their audience, innovate upon themselves and their employers are treating them with respect? Inconceivable!

Nice to see a company reward their employees with money instead of a pizza party.

The fact we praise what should be common place is.... Frustrating.
  • Capcom be doing good these day, giving boosts to their workers and making good games. Im glad we came a long way from their 2012 era.

The CEO of the corporation I work for did something that kind of blew my mind when the financial impact of COVID hit. He gave himself a 50% pay-cut and his direct reports a 20% pay-cut and dumped the savings into the frontline. They did this to avoid laying people off. They didn't broadcast it either. I only knew because I was part of leadership. They just quietly sacrificed their own income to avoid letting people go during a troubling time.

First pay raise I’ve heard that wasn’t’ just the ceos

If there's anything i love more than Chun Li's thighs its people being rewarded for hard work
  • EA: "What is this 'salary increase' you speak of?" Capcom: "Well, after the array of successful games we've had, we figured by giving our workers a boost in their paycheck, it will encourage them to provide good content AND allow us to attract the attention of rich talent in the future." EA: "But... you LOSE money."

I’m grateful to Resident Evil 6 for no other reason than the lesson Capcom took from it. They learned ALL the right lessons from its release/lifecycle.

Good, I like supporting companies that treat their employees and customers with respect.

This is the first time in a long time, that I have heard a story of a game company actually rewarding their employees.

Capcom has been knocking it out of the park since RE7. There only real dud was RE3 RE, and that was an external studio. They took the criticism for that game to heart too, originally that same team was going to make the RE4 Remake. But capcom took it internal after 3’s reception.
  • @YageSage
Now Capcom just needs to remake the RE3 remake, and we're all good.😂

Capcom has the right idea; you can appease stakeholders with more than just money, you can make them feel secure in the company by having good PR and stability.

It's worth noting that Japan does have employment laws in place to protect employees from mass layoffs. Not that they can't happen but they have to prove in court that actually have a good reason and that they are indeed in financial trouble. The US have no such laws which is why companies keep doing it without penalty. I'll admit I personally don't like Nintendo I see the company as brutes who try to bully everyone with less money than them so there's probably some bias on my part there but Capcom is one of my favorite developers in the business right now and as good news as this is I have to assume that layoffs would at least be an option that would be discussed if those laws weren't in place.

Eastern developers: Rewards developers and increase their salary with every successful game release and for their hard work. Western developers: Fires all of thier developers and increase the CEO's salary with every successful game release.

This is fantastic and all but don't forget their move to screw customers with added DRM to various PC games to prevent modding/make the games difficult to work on steam deck/make game performance worse (as a side effect._
