Learning Piano (Read Description)

I have been blessed with the gift of playing piano by ear. However, I didn’t stick with lessons as a kid because it was so hard for me to follow the music and the recitals terrified me. I didn’t think I needed lessons when I was little. However not sticking with lessons was the biggest regret I ever had. I long to be able to play better. My mom and grandma had the gift of playing by ear and they were excellent at playing piano. They played together all the time. I was my mom’s backup and she masked my playing beautifully. I had always played melodies only, without adding any chords or extra notes. My mom did that when we played together. My mom passed away unexpectedly this year and it has been devastating. We were very close and I still lived with her. We did everything together and shared the love of music too. I have decided to do some online lessons this year and want to honor my mom and grandma this way. I decided to post a video and will share my progress as I go along. I know I have a very long way to go and this is only the beginning for me. If you are musical, I would love your feedback and advice too.😊 God bless you all abundantly!🎶❤️🎶❤️🎶❤️

Hope everyone has enjoyed walking the piano journey with me. I’m practicing daily and hope that it shows how hard I’ve been working on it. I have coordination and neurological problems that are definitely a struggle with the piano but I refuse to let it stop me. I may have to work harder and longer than some artists and it definitely depends on the song but I will not give up. I was also born with hearing loss and even though I struggled with hearing in my daily life, when it comes to music I hear perfectly. It’s really a miracle. I have a very large family and out of them only my mom, grandma and myself inherited the gift of playing by ear. I believe only one person out of each generation in my family heritage has had the gift. That means the world to me. I’ve already have done more than I thought I could possibly do and I believe with Jesus giving me the strength, I will achieve playing the piano as best as I possibly could ever have before. My goal is to be able to play the hallelujah chorus by my 50th birthday. That gives me 11 years. If I can do it by 45, I won’t complain about that one.😜
