A brief look at some of the different Slide types available and what they sound like.
Please bare in mind these opinions are my own.
Thanks for everyone's patience waiting for these lessons. This is just the first of many lessons, the others are being edited and will be uploaded in the next few weeks.

I really do hope these lessons are helpful and spark some inspiration.
These lessons are just the bare bones basics of slide, and designed to help you get started. I'll be offering more advanced lessons later.
Enjoy.
Please feel free to ask questions. I'm happy to help.

Also, on an unrelated note - Feel free to checkout my Original Acoustic style singer/songwriter tunes at www.myspace.com/dangreennz

The recordings aren't the best, but it gives you an idea of what other styles of music I've been experimenting with. Thanks for your interest!

Regards

Dan

Thank you Dan. This is a very clear and informative lesson. I bought a slide and now I'm (fool of expectations) going to see your lesson No 2. Really like to learn the slide.

Hi there, thanks for the great message. I really wanted to set out the basics of slide guitar so that people who are interested can start from the bottom and not think they have to play like Lowell George or Ry Cooder straight away! Cheers! Dan NZ

That was a very good intro on slides , thanks once again

Thank you for your opinion about it. ive been playing it for the past few days, and im really liking it. its got a nice thickness to it, but its not very sound. i have a nice pedal for my guitar that adds a few nice sounds to go along with the nice sound of the slide. so i got a good thing going on now. :)
  • @Swiftwinter
Hey - My answer to you is Yes. I prefer old traditional glass bottleneck slides. I like the tone. Again, as I mentioned in the first video, it can depend on the Glass thickness as to what tone your gonna get... but hell ya, they are useful.. go forth and play. Cheers, Dan

Thanks for an interesting lesson. I'm going to look for a slide. One of my favourite tunes is Powis Square by Ry Cooder. Your samples remind me of that great tune. Looking forward to learning from you. Thanks.
  • @Swiftwinter
Hi - It's all about the tone. I have found wood bodied resonator guitars to have a quieter, softer tone. The metal bodied, bell brass, chrome coated etc resonators seem to me to have more punch and projection. It's all personal preference .
