The 1/64 odds is beautiful and all, except for the fact that it can take 100+ eggs that require 8,000 steps to hatches

Time to be that guy and help those who are now hunting in GSC. The LOWEST shiny rate in those games via breeding is 1/64, but its a bit more complicated than just breeding with a 1/64 chance of a shiny. Because pokemons attack stat in gen 2 differs between genders (weirdly enough female pokemon of a species will always have a lower attack dv) some pokemon with different gender ratios have different chances. Theyre all still incredibly low, and some of them ARE 1/64 (ie genderless pokemon and pokemon who’s male/female ratio is 87.5/12.5 like the starters) but most others are higher like 1/256. Its also worth noting that the pokemon whos female ratio are 12.5 and are female can never be shiny because of their attack dv not being the right number for them to be shiny Yeah im a fuckin nerd 🤓

While in Scarlet&Violet you can hatch around 80 eggs an hour, in gen2 you can hatch around 8 eggs an hour
  • The reason that Ditto becomes shiny is because when it uses Transform, while already transformed into your shiny Gyarados, the Ditto copies your Gyarados's DVs onto itself, replacing its original DVs.

Ive played silver since relalease. I foundmy first ever fulls odd shiny last year. It was a damn hoothoot

Thats cool and all but hatching eggs in gen 2 takes so much time. Like 15 minutes or so

The KK Cruisin intro, the Mario 64 swiping transitions, and Gen 2 Shiny hunting for the topic of the video. It's like this vid from a year ago made its way through my algorithm just for my hyperfixation at 7am. Thanks for this!

"We're gonna gaslight a shiny" killed me. Great video.

In my younger years, I had a shiny Venonat in FireRed. I had caught a shiny Wingull in Pearl or Diamond. When HeartGold and SoulSilver was still new, I had caught a shiny Rhyhorn in FireRed in the Safari Zone. I did this without a shiny charm. I even caught more in Let's Go Pikachu without the charm than I did with it. I'm playing Silver and haven't seen one yet. I don't truly care since I'm grinding my Pokemon to level 32 for the Pryce fight since I have a Level 32 Eevee trying to evolve it into Umbreon.

Is this possible to do on the 3ds versions? I feel like I’m fucked when it comes to trading to gen 1 cause I don’t know anyone with a 3ds and I only have silver version on my 3ds

Wait mimic can transfer stats? But in that case if you use a shiny in later games with mimic will it do same or not when fighting a ditto?
  • @KaibaKid_
I've been resetting for a shiny Rotom in Diamond and it's honestly a great hunt. I've seen success in Soul Silver, having found two shinies, so I'm ready for this Rotom to show up.

If you breed a shiny ditto with another shiny pokemon? Does that change the odds getting a shiny pokemon egg
  • If I transfer that ditto through poke bank to crystal will it still work?
  • Love Pokemon Crystal, Gen 2 is best Gen. Thanks for the video, I never knew about this while Shiny Hunting.
  • @richkra8161
Very cool video and learned a good bit about gen 2 shiny hunting
  • Gen 2 is by far the easiest to shiny hunt in. Back when GSC came out on 3DS, I shiny hunted every non legendary in about a month. Very easy. Gen 3 is by far the hardest to shiny hunt in.
  • Been playing GSC since it came out. Yesterday, after 25+ years, I caught my first wild shiny.
  • Wait, so if I bred the shiny gyarados with a normal arbok, would that give me the same odds or does it have to be ditto to get the odds.
