They say you can't have it all in America, a full time job, a kid, a shiny Manaphy...
  • @Patterrz
This is the best explanation of hunting Manaphy i've seen, also did not expect to be jumpscared by my own face in this LOL 1:53

I took a student led college course for actual units on Pokémon. The student instructors would give us homework and assign Jwitzz Pokémon videos as assignments and it was pretty awesome. He’s been someone who I’ve always watched growing up and to watch him again in my adult life was a full circle moment

The best part of this is that, in my opinion, shiny Manaphy isn't even that great of a shiny.
  • @Flamyll
As a Manaphy hunt success, I felt every. OUNCE. Of your pain. Played through 4 copies of Ranger... spent 2 years Hatching eggs. I have said it before, "never again" :) but I have my baby.

God I've been watching the Wittz since... 3rd grade? 2nd? 1st? I'm an adult now? And his YouTube videos still make me just as happy. Glad dude is still kickin online
  • It makes me happy to see one of the OG Pokemon YouTubers of my childhood come back after a whole year. Even with his new responsibilities he still likes making videos and it shows
  • @Ribbonnanza
A friend of mine has a living shiny dex, meaning a shiny version of EVERY SINGLE POKEMON including every form, and I continue to be amazed at that dedication.

The end of this video actually made me tear up. I've been watching your channel for over 10 years. Seeing you grow as I did is awesome. I'm a dad now & have a full-time job too. You're awesome, man. I appreciate you.

Welcome back, JWittz! Good health to you and your family!

Small note about "overcooking" the eggs. In gen 4 and before, the game doesn’t store the exact amount of steps required to hatch; instead it stores a number of "egg cycles". This counter is is ticked down by 1 every 256 steps, (by 2 with magma armor/flame body), giving an effective number of steps to hatch each egg. This is why it will always take a few hundred steps between egg hatches in the older games, even if you store them in a box immediately after receiving (so that all the eggs have been in your party the same amount if time) and hatch them later. Gens 5+ store the exact step count, so you can get eggs hatching on consecutive tiles (which very much surprised me back in the day!) For how the effects things with the hunt. I believe the gamewise egg cycle ticker (which counts steps and subtracts an egg cycle from each egg when it reaches 255) resets back to 0 when you soft reset. Assuming this is the case, you shouldn't ever need to worry about eggs hatching in only a few steps and the worrying here is unnecessary, it will always take at least 256 steps to hatch from power on. That said as I type this up I realise it's entirely possible it doesn't reset and that the shiny hunters (who are no doubt more knowledgeable than me) know this. Regardless I hope you found this interesting, random internet stranger. :)
  • And this is why I’ll NEVER unsubscribe from you. I never know when you’ll spook my notifications and bring me back to the golden era of YouTube. Glad to see you again. And I can shed some light on the Manaphy Egg hatching that you mentioned at 10:07. How eggs work: An egg is generated with a set amount of cycles, depending on species. The game will take one cycle away from every egg in your party, going consecutively from slot 1 to slot 6, every 256 steps (two cycles will be taken if your lead Pokémon has Flame Body/Magma Armor). In Gen IV, when an egg reaches 0 cycles remaining, it hatches, and all other eggs in the party after that egg will not have a cycle removed (to prevent multiple eggs from hatching at the same time). Where the 1-step hatch can occur is this: the 256 step requirement for taking away a cycle is tracked independent of eggs, it starts as soon as the save file is generated, and it persists with saving (i.e. if you’re 10 steps away from a cycle occurring, save, turn the game off, and come back later, you will still be 10 steps away). And it can (and often will) be different between different games. You can be 10 steps away from a cycle occurring in one game, but if you trade a ready-to-hatch egg to a different game that’s 240 steps away, it will still take that 240 steps to hatch. So, with all that said, if you trade an egg with only one cycle left to a save that is 1 step away from completing a cycle, that is how you can get the dreaded 1-step hatch that will ruin a Manaphy egg. • Weirdly enough, a new JWittz video is exactly what I wanted for Father’s Day

As insane as this whole journey is, the new method at the end actually sounds easier LMAO

JWittz, I’m 21 years old and have been watching you throughout my life. Been a on and off shiny hunter throughout the last 9 years. If this is your final video, I just want to thank you for everything. You’re the OG Pokemon YouTuber and I hope the newer generation of pokemon fans discover your channel. Feels like your history of mewtwo video was uploaded just yesterday. Thank you for everything you’ve done for the pokemon community, for pokemon content on YouTube, for shiny hunters, for gaming in general. You’re a true og of this scene and we all truly appreciate the entertainment you’ve put out for us within the last 15 years. We do and always will love you man.
