As a child I grew up in a nondenominational church, and every year the Children's Church did a play and I had the part of Mary (the mother) every year. Mainly because once you learned your part and did it well, that was your part until... I remember getting my hair washed and pressed [I had a lot of hair.] in the kitchen the night before. My dresses, hats, shoes, dress lace ankle socks, gloves, little purse, and or basket added. Everybody was sharp that weekend!

At my little Baptist church in Birmingham, Al, the kids did Easter speeches. So that helped to drive home early that Easter was about the resurrection of Jesus. We had the baskets, colored eggs, new clothes and all of that but that was extra. I use to get on my mama’s nerves asking questions about how the Easter bunny fit in the overall scheme of things and she couldn’t explain it! 😂😂😂
  • Reading several of the comments. It brought back so many fond memories as a child. Thank you Tab and Chance for putting this video together.🙏💗🙂

Wow such good memories!!! I remember my grandmother would go to sunrise service. Before the sun came up she would go and then come back and get us ready for Easter program

Not the Lord coming back Tab 😂😂😂.
  • I always enjoy Fridays with Tab & Chance. This episode is really taking me back. My grown daughter reminded me of her fondest memories. She remembers the Easter Egg hunt i did, and she remembered how I made sure they knew the real reason for the celebration. I would put candy and money in the eggs, and hide them. i would hide one special gold egg that was empty. It was to show that Jesus had Risen. The person who found the special egg got a special gift. Just like for Christmas, Jesus is the reason for the season. Happy Resurrection Day, everyone.
  • I pray a blessed and restorative Resurrection Sunday/Easter for those who celebrate and also blessings and restoration for those who don't! ✝️🤗❤️🙏🏾🙌🏾🙏🏾

My Momma use to make my Easter Basket grass, boiled eggs, some jelly beans and my favorite thing was Colorform Sets “Rocky,Bullwinkle and Natasha. ( Y’all are probably like what is Colorform Sets)? 😂😂 I’m a seasoned senior so that was way back in the day! I think they still make them though. Those were good times, anywho Happy Resurrection Weekend everybody! ❤❤

I enjoyed watching this episode but couldn't remember Easter as a child except getting dressed up with new spring clothes and going to packed church with ladies with big hats. Delicious lamb and southern food in NYC. And dying Easter eggs . But I remember as an adult celebrating Easter with my girls, the shopping, cooking, buying Easter hats and clothes for my girls, making EASTER baskets filling it with their favorite candy and toys. Taking them to church was special to see them dressed from head to toe. And as a grandmother, enjoying my grandchild. And my 2 year old grand daughter visiting me from MD to surprise me in GA. She wore a dress I bought her that had Roses all over them. Her name is Rose and she was my Easter bunny 🐰. My very sweet grandson visiting me later that 💙 Eastern day with his mom and a family friend. It was definitely a resurrected Sunday. That was the best yet❤ Thanks for the memories Tab and Chance😅.

Aww man Easter was so fun cuz we got a big basket full of grass dyed boiled eggs, jelly beans, candies, and small toys and games. We got a new outfit to pretty much go over to our grandparents house to eat and play with all my cousins. My mother didnt let us play with church. We were not allowed to go on m holidays only. She said if u gone go u had to go every Sunday. God was God everyday. My sister and I helped our mom dye eggs and decorate the basket and we'd talk about Jesus and the resurrection. Momma didnt allow the TV 2 glamorize it for us. We had ball every year. My older brother got green army men for Christmas so he didn't want any for Easter he wanted cars and trucks 😂😂

We definitely saw the big hats, that distracted the kids from whatever was being said, lol! We had pastel colored dresses, lace socks, pressed hair (whew), Easter speeches, baskets with all the green stringy grass, chocolate bunnies, dyeing eggs for the Easter egg hunt & re-hiding them in the house, because we didn't want the day to end, lol! My grandparents anniversary was Easter Sunday....I didn't realize it was never the same date, until I got older, my grandma would say, the date didn't matter -- we know we were married on Easter Sunday lol!! Yess, great memories!
  • I used to get dressed up in an outfit that itch and them white slippery shoes and I forgot my speech for Easter at church because I didn't want to be there
  • @glendawaller7861
My mom used to make our Easter baskets with some of our favorite things in them. Great memories! ❤
  • @fdoctor79
We had easter speeches and plays. And of course, you are dressed in your Sunday BEST! 😂 Hope everyone has an amazing Resurrection Day! 😊
  • Yeah, I do remember a little bit of Easter dresses and going to church. I had religious classes, butthere wasn't an understanding of the full deep understanding of Easter. I loved Palm Sunday getting the palms, but not every Palm Sunday was there enough of the palms. For my son I would give him Easter baskets, but his last Easter I made a special Easter gifts of books. That was many years ago. Thank you. P.S. Passion of the Christ is too gruesome for me!! God Bless you all.
