I tried to cover as many Topics that I see come up commonly regarding the Rubicon Trail.

About bypasses:
There are no bypasses on the trail. You can bypass soup bowl and old sluice, but those are not the main trail, those are
More like optional routes.

There are no roads into the middle of the trail. You have to wheel the whole trail.

Do not drive over vegetation

Use restrooms or wag bags- we don't want to see the trail get closed down

No don't drive more than 25 ft off trail

The trail goes through El Dorado national forest, Tahoe national forest, El dorado county, placer county, and also roughly 40% of the trail is private property.

Get seat time- Rubicon is a 9/10
Go run a bunch of easier trails to learn how to wheel, learn your rig, what breaks on your type of rig, go Run ton of 2s, then 3s, then 4s, then 5s, 6s and so on, get to know your rig first, don't be a trail tampon because you are clueless, start off on easier trails, and don't get offended when someone asks you to pass and have adequate tools and parts to repair your vehicle.

Don't block the trail for vehicle repair if you can winch over or get strapped over off trail

Last gas 50 side: Freshpond and Ice house resort (but they can close early) Last groceries on 50 side : Sly Park Safeway

Last gas on 80 side: Georgetown, Last groceries on 80 side : Georgetown

Be aware of heat stroke, dehydration , rattle snakes, bears, and extreme cold as well, breakage.

Use communication devices in a group - HAM, CB, GMRS, sat phone, etc. Also for emergencies.

Be prepared with tools and spare parts.

Basics of Trail Etiquette- treat others like you'd want to be treated and don't pass off trail, if you're driving too slow for the flow of traffic pull over

Sherrifs patrol the trail, you can get a ticket or a DUI

Pack it in, pack it out, don't leave trash, including broken parts, on the trail.
