Kimono Rental Experience ๐Ÿ‘˜ Tea Ceremony ๐Ÿต Around Gion and Pontocho | What to see and do in Kyoto? ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต

RENTING A KIMONO? ๐Ÿ‘˜ What about joining a tea ceremony? ๐Ÿต Hands down, these are two of the best things to do in Japan at least once (or maybe not, because I've done both twice and I might do it again next time!).

And if you've never been to Gion and Pontocho, you should watch this video!

๐Ÿ“ KIMONO RENTAL PROCESS AT YUMEYAKATA
1. Book and pay in advance (online)
2. Arrive on time (store opens at 10am) and show your booking upon entrance
3. Take off your shoes and staff will give you a plastic bag to put it in
4. At the second floor, staff will give you an eco bag for your stuff. This is where you will pick a kimono and accessories. You have an option to upgrade to any plan at this point if you'd like to have a better-looking kimono
5. Go to the dressing room where staff will help you get dressed and will give you a new pair of tabi (put these on before anything else)
6. Once dressed, proceed to the room where they do the hairstyling and make up (if you're availing of these); buy a hair ornament if you'd like
7. Pick a bag - this comes with the rent
8. Bring your stuff to the first floor, put everything in the ecobag and deposit it. Staff will sign a number to it and you have to take a photo of the number.
9. Pick a pair of slippers ('zori') and off you go :)
10. Be back at the store before 5:30pm. Also, you have an option to return the kimono the next day for a fee ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ

๐Ÿ’กTIP: Take a bathroom break if you need to, before dressing up. There are many layers inside a kimono so this would be a little difficult to do once you're all dressed up - at least in my experience. ๐Ÿ˜…
