34 trillion dollar national debt, who are the real counterfeiters?
  • @STho205
The US Treasury since the early 1970s have turned $100 bills into $1 bills.
  • @jblps
I've been scrubbing a one dollar bill for 45 minutes and it still hasn't turned into a hundo 😒

"They are sometimes taking the $2 bill and turning it into a $200 bill" GENIUS
  • @sunsetlane3924
They are just adjusting for inflation. What use to cost $1 now costs $100.
  • This WILL land someone in the slammer...the government hates competition...
  • @MobileDecay
She was like"Nobody shopping in this store has $100. to their name. Nice try! 🙄"
  • This scenario was the main story in a Lee Childs novel about 15 years ago. Brand new $1 bills were collected by gangs and put through a bleach bath and then dried and then over printed with $100. That way you keep the embedded metal strip, and all US paper currency is the same size. Over here in UK, all bank notes are different size, £5. £10, £20 and £50 all increase in size by denomination, so no one is going to bleach a small £5 note to over print with £50.

"Police alert that someone is taking $1 bills and turning them into $100 bills" The Fed: 👀

Isn't this what the government does 😂😂😂
  • That lady deserves a reward for being alert and knowing what she is doing. I have worked as a cashier many times and always checked fifties and hundreds. Got more then a few dirty looks from customers. But I was doing my job.
  • Thanks for the idea. Wouldn’t have thought of it without the local police department.
  • @donmerk6502
You gotta show us how it's exactly done so we know what to look for and stop this 👀

Sometimes, older legal tender is mistaken for counterfeit bills. Especially by store staff who haven't been in the US for that long. It should be part of their training to recognize the difference between older and newer bills so that they realize their legitimacy.

Financially it's better to actually be wealthy than to look wealthy. Best quote ever!
  • Stores will call the police if you are using counterfeit money but if you steal no problem they wont call the police. LOL

One thing that gave away the false $100 note is that the serial number contained only one prefix letter. When the "big-headed" designs started appearing in the 1990s, an additional prefix letter was added to indicate the series (i.e., year the signature combination was approved). The $1 and $2 notes are the only denominations now printed that lack this additional prefix letter. (BTW all the older older "small-headed" designs lack this prefix letter, but these older designs are now rarely seen in actual circulation, having been either shredded by the Federal Reserve Banks or in the hands of paper money collectors--but they are still legal tender at their face value).

These are called "raised bills". I worked as bank teller 40 years ago. We were taught to ALWAYS look at the face of the bill, Not the denomination.
