This made their mission of disrupting the German forces and integrating them that much more personal.

The true definition of Bravery at the highest order, Lest We Forget.
  • What an incredible force assembled to defeat Rommel. He was Germany's best. It took alot of balls and blood to beat him. And divine grace. We owe these gents alot.

Too bad the group suffered such horrendous casualties. Extraordinary courage in the face of extreme odds. Bless those boys.

I heard briefly that Britain had a Jewish brigade .. Really brilliant that you have covered this, very interesting indeed, thank you .
  • It was an amazing work and thrilled watching documentary about SIG group beneath British forces in North Africa during WW2 .
  • @cynthiaalver
Didn't know this piece of WW2 history. Very much appreciated. Thank you.
  • Got taught French, German and Russian in the 1980s in the Cold War British Armed Forces, just in future case. Since I was Welsh, I sounded like a natural. (English can't do gutteral consonants.) 😎👍
  • This must have been the inspiration for the movie "Tobruk" where George Peppard played the Jewish commander of his men dressed in German uniform with Brits lead by Rock Hudson as their prisoners.
  • A very worthwhile video, thank you. These are the sort of men Britain welcomes as refugees, brave, loyal, dedicated. Hats off for the SIG, LRDG & SAS.

I knew of the SAS and LRDG but hadn’t heard the history of the SIG. Incredible men and an elite unit worthy of greater recognition. Thank you for bringing their story to my attention. I plan to learn more about them.

What a shame that today’s spoiled and entitled generation don’t appreciate their freedom and the sacrifices ppl gave to allow them what they have today..

According to Moshe Dayan the IDF learned everything they did ( in the 1960s & 70s) off Orde Wingate in 1936 when fighting against the Arab uprising to the British mandate ….Orde Wingate was a maverick and went on to organise the Chindits …
  • Badass documentary and story! Love what you guys are doing at History Hit, please keep up the great work!

They risked certain torture if caught alive. Very brave men and must have contributed to the allies victory in Africa and the war.
