i love watching these types of videos at 3am because i can’t sleep
  • For years now, I’ve been waking up at 5am and by 5:15, no matter what the weather, my German Shepherd and I are beginning our 1-hour hike we do every morning. We live in New England in the states and at 5am, it’s dark and cold, and for two months in the winter, our entire hike is in the dark with a headlamp. But for the rest of the year, we catch the sunrise at some point in our hike, and it is the most incredible way to start you day. Walking through a dark, calm, peaceful forest and then to watch the sky slowly turn pink and get brighter till the sun is up…it never gets old. We get a relaxing and peaceful start to the day before venturing out to the real world of responsibilities and work. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

"practise the habit before the habit". Love this. And spot on about routines not being automated. Not doing a habit feels uncomfortable, but routines you do intentionally to feel comfort.

When my alarm goes off, I can’t think of anything else I’d rather do for myself than go back to sleep! Meditating, eating a yummy breakfast, journaling, or reading a book are all very distance seconds. Does anyone else feel that way? Or am I just a deeply depressed human being?

my hack for this was getting a job as a barista, turns out money is a great motivator for 4am shifts
  • Your last point about going to bed on time -- yes, it's foundational, and especially important since it's too easy to use those couple hours of free time for being in bed for longer! You really gotta be well-rested. If you're waking up at 5 am, you should be a person who's fine with sleeping by 9pm/10pm.

I would also say that one tip that's been helping be recently is really understanding the value of your time. I'm someone who can sleep until 2pm if you let me lol - but reframing my mind and understanding the value of time, and when you learn to value your time, you learn to value yourself.

girl, you’re so good at this!! love the way you suggested getting even more specific with your morning plan so it gets done. thank you so much!!!!!
  • @MissNaomiJean
As someone with housemates, a sunrise alarm has been amazing for waking up early/earlier than them. It kind of combines step one and two and is silent!
  • I wake up at 4:30 am for work everyday. I hate it but I love my job. I used to think I could never do this but money is a good motivation 😹

Great timing! I normally have no problem waking up early but during winter it's just so much harder to get up early in the cold 🥶
  • @laurenemilyw
This could not have been a better time for this video. I literally was just reading about why I'm so tired in the mornings and can't get up. Thank you so much ❤️

Love this video, and I'm so grateful you've shared your experience with Lingoda! I signed up for the June super sprint because of your first sponsored vid and I'm still going strong 23 classes in. It feels amazing to finally have structure and motivation to learn French :)
  • I really needed to hear this. I’ve been trying to fix my sleep schedule and I have an incredibly hard time waking up in the mornings. You put everything in such a digestible way and I have more of a plan to help myself now! Thank you!
  • I just started reading the Compound Effect and now I see this, feels like I'm being pointed towards changing up my morning routine to make the best of it!
  • @wardashraf1724
Love the pink light and your aesthetic vibes, also trying to build and stick to my morning routine so I just needed this video!!
  • I use a ring light throughout my work day as well! It keeps me wide awake and feels like morning time regardless of the time and weather! I’m currently working on motivating myself to wake up early in the morning. My morning routine is a rush and I know having a couple hours in the am can improve my morning (and my day), however, my sleep is so terrible it’s hard to want to cut that short 🙃
  • @SoccerDua
You’re such a talented, research-oriented information dispenser! Thank you for your hard work and attention to detail. Not unnoticed.
  • @mashainmotion
Really good tips❣️ And also I would add that if you're sleeping in the same bed with your partner or in a room with anybody, you still must have your own morning routine. These days my partner can sleep until 10am,11am and so I also slept longer (until 8 or 9am) and I discovered that it's not good for me cause I need my early morning time for stuff I like to do. 🙂

what helps me get up early in the morning without anything specific I need to do is thinking about what I WANT to do in the mornings. Nobody else in my family is usually awake at 5am, so I get like 2 hours of the day all to myself, and I really love that. Even on days that I want to sleep in, I tend to challenge myself just to get up in the morning. If I still feel lazy (Note: it's totally okay to have lazy days!) I could snuggle in a blanket and watch a movie or a show. So think about what you want to do when you wake up in the mornings!
