Miramare Castle can be found just outside the city of Trieste in northern Italy. It was built in the 1860s by Arch-duke Maximilian of Austria and his wife Charlotte. The castle sits by the sea and is situated in a 22 hectare park, it's a stunning location.

A beautiful chapel and gardens. The castle with a view of the Gulf is breathtaking! The castle's stunning design was enhanced by the lovely blue sea behind it! Beautiful presentation. Those gardens and grounds are amazing. Will not pass by next time I am in the area. The castle is wonderful and is really stunning inside, particularly Charlottes rooms. The story of Maximillian is a sad one and one of a series of family tragedies that his brother Franz Josef suffered during his reign. Thanks for the tour.

A wonderful chapel and lovely gardens as you first arrived. The castle overlooking the Gulf is stunning! Loved the beautiful architecture of the castle with the gorgeous blue water behind it. Lovely furniture and art work inside. Sad that Maximilian wasn't well received in Mexico other that in art! The rebels had other ideas and I think he would have enjoyed remaining in this beautiful castle more. Loved your tour and hearing the history. Thanks so much for bringing us along to the lovely castle and grounds.
