Morrowind can be very difficult to get into. So much so you'll usually give up and move on to another game to play if your a new player. I've done it loads of times but now I'm addicted to the game and am hoping to help show others why this game is so great.

I was wrong to say that acrobatics and athletics are bad to put into your major or minor skills. It actually can help with your governing attributes. For more info on leveling, there's a Youtuber named Lyle Shnub who explains how leveling works perfectly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2GNNLz1pUU Hope this helps! Tell him BUckENbooz sent ya! :D

I have another tip to beginners: create a backstory for your character. Make him someone you truly care about. Then start exploring Morrowind as that character. Try to understand the world from his perspective and make decisions like he would based on what kind of character he is. Morrowind is one of those rare games that allows you to truly roleplay your character. Take advantage of this spectacular opportunity and experience an unforgettable adventure.

This all made morrowind great, the fact that you felt like in an actual adventure, were if you took the wrong turn you would get lost, you had to ask for directions, look for the fastest way, pick your fights, it all combined to a great RPG

Honestly I think the journal and dialogue system in Morrowind is genius. I love the fact that you have to ask NPCs how to get to places. It makes the world seem like a real place.

I got Morrowind a couple of months ago and nearly gave up on it because of the combat early on being so shady and frustrating despite reading up on it and being warned about it. However, I stuck with it and once I got used to the fatigue factor and raised my attacking skills a bit, the combat did a complete 180. If the game frustrates you early on, be patient and bear with it because it's more than worth it once you get immersed into the game and your character is built up a little bit. looking back to where it started. watching my character develop in all the different skills and trades is one of the many incredible aspects of Morrowind.

How to enjoy Morrowind via some more general advice, by someone who's played it plenty: Step 1: Please choose speed as a starting stat. Getting around slowly will frustrate anyone.. You could also take the steed as your sign and feel quite speedy right out of the gate, but your mileage may vary. Majoring in athletics is probably overkill. Step 2: Put at LEAST one armor skill as a primary, and block if you plan to use shields. You DON'T want to stand around getting hit to skill up your armor and you DON'T want to lose the leveling bonus for leaving it as a minor. Step 3: Learn the travel networks. It's fast travel that's actually part of the world. The mages' guild, both types of intervention, boats, silt striders and the mark and recall spells can really help you get around if you learn the locations the spells will warp you to from your current location. Making coherent use of the interlocking travel nets will speed your progress considerably, letting you jump all over VVardenfell without feeling like a total cheat. You'll find Skyrim's fast travel quite patronizing once you've mastered this skill. Step 4: PUT. YOUR WEAPON. AWAY. Being combat ready when you talk brings a penalty to social interactions. Step 5: if you're a multi-guild kinda guy, join the fighters' guild AFTER the thieves' guild.

Man, this makes me feel old. Morrowind was luxury compared to RPG's that came before it... I'm 35 and I can tell you now that quest objective markers ruin the mystery of the world and lessen the feeling of reward. I hope the next TES has a TRUE mode or GOLD mode, where there are none.

I think what Morrowind does more incredibly than anything else is A) represent the perfect balance between the tabletop-inspired rpg mechanics from Arena and Daggerfall with the beautiful world environments and visuals of later games and B) deliver lore
