A major freeway connecting greater Los Angeles to Las Vegas remains closed Saturday following a battery truck fire on the 15 Freeway near Baker. Bailey Miller reports for the NBC4 News at 6 p.m. on July 27, 2024.

She is lucky she's in between Barstow & Baker. There is NOTHING out there, either direction. The police need to make a crossing thru the median giving access to I-15S to LA, so these vehicles can turn around or it's going to be worse.

First, if you're gonna drive through the desert, make sure you have a full tank of gas, and NEVER let it get below half. Second, bring enough water for everyone in the vehicle to last at least 3 days. Third, turn around.

Just shows HOW STUPID the CHP is... It ain't rocket science to turn all the passenger vehicles around and send them back THEN the tractor trailers will have room to do the same ... Whomever is making the terrible decisions to keep these people stranded should be criminally charged with child abuse and endangering the welfare of ALL other people stuck in that line up.

how have the police not figured this out? That is insane not to turn people around. Make the other direction one lane each way. Direct people to pull across to other side... how far is it to the other direction of the road, miles? No.

This type of fire can easily get up to 2,000° F and take days to weeks to burn itself out. This is a lot bigger than an overturned truck.
