Running a SUB 60 10K is a huge goal for many runners after progressing in distance from 5K races or parkrun. I learnt about one person trying to break the hour for 10km, and agreed to pace her for a SUB 60 attempt at Southampton 10K. This, is Emma's story.

Honestly, I got up this morning, had a coffee and watched this vid. I decided I was gonna try my first 10k in a long long time. After going past mile 4, I started to struggle but I so badly wanted to comment on this vid that I pushed through by thinking comment comment comment! I finally made it, and as I sit here typing this, feeling knackered, just wanna go you and Emma a big thumbs up for taking me out of my jogging comfort zone 👍🏻

A new Jog On vid - today is a good day

I paced a friend to a sub 45 10k the other week, and man I gotta say that feeling of helping someone achieve a goal they didnt think they could make is almost as good as running your own PB. So many people are more capable than they believe they are when it comes to achieving times
  • Really appreciate seeing people with similar times and targets to me being featured in running content! It makes me feel more like I "belong" and helps lessen the imposter syndrome I feel at events. Well done Emma!!!
  • @AVS_uk
Love the race whisper because everyone around is just quietly running - definitely experienced that
  • @JanetSuzanne
This is going to be my goal- I’m currently at about 1:06 for my 10k which I was really happy with getting so I’m going to slowly but surely get to the 1 hour mark… one day!

Amazing story, whatever level you are at running, you cannot be helped to be inspired from Emma’s journey to reach her race goal. Well done.

having run the 2023 london marathon, absolutely understand the challenge that even 10km is and to do it in sub 60 mins is such a phenomanal achievemant. you should be incredibly proud of yourself. a champion.

The amazing thing about running is that no matter how fast or slow you are there is always someone who is faster or slower than you...At the end of the day it is all about breaking your personal limits and overtaking yourself.
  • Well Done Emma & brilliant video Harry, my story is very similar, I'm a 53 year old lady and started CT5k during the first lockdown with my husband's encouragement (he is a very keen runner & did the London Marathon this year). I try and do the Parkrun each week but get very nervous, I obtained my goal of a Sub 30 in April 2022 and today ran 28.35, 5 secs off my PB. I am entered into a 10k race in July and would love to achieve a Sub 60, my previous PB is 1.02.50 on a flat course whereas the one in July is quiet hilly. My husband is going to pace me and says I shouldn't get hung up about the time, just enjoy it & soak up the atmosphere of a bigger race, I know I'll be very nervous on the day but watching your video has really inspired me, if I don't achieve it in July I'm sure one day with determination I will.
  • Wahoo, fantastic effort Emma! I have also had the same goal for quite a while, and last weekend finally cracked the sub 60 too! Amazing achievement 👏🏻👏🏻
  • I never used to believe people who said that running is a mental sport more than a physical one. Then I started running! Lovely to see Emma crushing it, and feeling, but mastering (kinda!), the panic. X
  • @JM-rm3lt
Curse you Harry. A 38 year old bloke with a tear in his eye as she crosses the line!
  • @ChadChadElvis
I'm not crying, you're crying... Great video Harry and EPIC STUFF Emma...
  • @matan21
Its one the hardest things to achive when setting these targets for your self. That mental pressure you place yourseld under than have such a physical effect. Felt so much the last few years chasing goals in triathlon when it was so much about the time you loose the pasison for it and enjoyment and the reason why you started doing ti in the first place.
  • @JM-rm3lt
Great video to inspire me for parkrun this morning. Hoping for sub 22, been a long time coming. Will report back later!
  • Emma, you did an amazing job. You SMASHED your PB :) wonderful achievement.
  • @mh1437
Well done Emma 🎉. Great result after so much hard work. And well done for coping with the bridge! I found that hard going. Nice one Harry, and thanks for the little cameo I got at the beginning… my son is very impressed that I have featured in one of your videos, and upgraded me from boomer to zoomer - whatever that means 😂
  • My last fastest time was 37.50 in 95 then 97 stopped running then started smoking quit in 2015 and started running again but rimes no where near to what was achieved then but in April recorded my fastest 10k since with 1.11 my ambition is Sub 60 minutes in the next few years.Well done Emma brilliant achievement.
