There has to be someone who wants to make a film about the life and genius of Steven Wilson someday. This guy is one of the most amazing, decent, intelligent, sensitive and professional humans on earth.

You gotta respect someone who sounds the same in studio and live. A loyal fan and will always remain. ❤

Perfect. I still can't stop listening to Hand Cannot Erase, and this song kills me every time. The whole concept is devastating, and says so much about modern society.
  • Just saw this show in Kansas City, and I literally had tears streaming down my face for much of the show. I knew all the material, but couldn't imagine the emotional impact of seeing the show live, with best sound system I've heard and remarkable videos accompanying it. First thought I had when the show ended was "where are they playing next?", and I was ready to book tickets to Dallas until I saw the $1500 cost. I've seen lots of shows in 59 years, but this was the first spiritual experience I've had at one.
  • "I feel I'm living in parentheses, and i got trouble with the bills" shit cut deep

The piano part at the end was absolutely breathtaking.

Hey brother, so much meaning to me... gone too soon. So much potential .... you had so much going for you... No one could get through to you, the gifts you had within you. This song will always remind me of my brother...

¡Magestuoso! Ésto es música, es arte en todo el sentido de la palabra. ¿Cómo no llorar?

I saw 3 shows on the Hand Cannot Erase Tour because I knew it would be an emotional show and I wanted one show where I got wrapped up in the story, and one where I could sit back a bit more and just take in the music. With most if not all the songs being played, at one show straight through in order, it was truly an impactful emotional experience. For those that might not know, to truly understand this great album its worthwhile to know the background story. Wilson saw a documentary film about this young English girl who was found in her apartment deceased, and they determined she had been dead for 3 years. She was a skeleton at that point, surrounded by christmas gifts she was wrapping. It was one of these large low income concrete faceless apartments, and no one, not even her family members, had bothered checking in on her for over 3 years. The landlord never checked because the TV was on for 3 years and she autopayed her rent. The cause of death remains a mystery, could have been a drug overdose, but no foul play. She just expired from the world and no one noticed. That sad story is what led Wilson to write the Hand Cannot Erase album. I bought the documentary film on DVD and its so sad and shocking. She led a fairly normal life, and then she was gone and forgotten. Thus, being at the live concerts with the videos was very impactful and I welled up quite a few times, especially at the end. Just a powerful personal story, and Wilson is a genius to set it to powerful emotional music. This song, obviously at the end, was the most emotional and I had to try hard to contain it in the live shows. Such a poignant powerful song. And the line "Hey brother, I feel like I'm living in parentheses...", my god. I still well up every time I hear this song and see the video. And its best when paired with the instrumental outro as they did here live. For those interested, the documentary film is called Dreams of a Life, and the women's name was Joyce Vincent.

I've cried like a baby when I saw him live playing this song. And now it's all over again! Beautiful song.

"...do the kids remember me..." when you realize, that the most saddest thing, can also be the most beautiful...

I think this song is way sadder than Stop Swimming. Just... heartbreaking.

Just closing my eyes and feeling this moment.. missing that day that I was so close to the band listening to this perfect album! <3
  • I can't count how many tears I've cried listen to this song. It's so emotional. If there's a god, Steven is send from him to give us his songs.
  • This is one of a handful of Steven Wilson songs that can make me cry again and again depending on the day. Is a master songwriter, a Craftsman.
  • I'm not sure if this crowd realizes they just witnessed the rarest thing on Earth: real music.
