Hollywood has given moviegoers some epic trilogies like The Lord of the Rings, The Dark Knight, the Before Trilogy, Back to the Future, and The Godfather. Moviegoers have always had a thirst for trilogies, but there are quite a few movie franchises that have stopped short of becoming trilogies.

Whether it was due to sequels that weren't successful or studio executives pulling the plug, fans of these movies will never get to see a trilogy come to fruition.

Hollywood is a fickle place, and the best chance these short-lived franchises have is a reboot. Here are some movie trilogies that will sadly never be finished.

Which trilogy do you wish they'd finish?

Out of this entire list, John Carter should get a sequel if the original cast is willing to return. Underrated by far.

I loved John Carter. I don't know why it is so bashed on.

Perlman and Del Toro should've finish the Hellboy trilogy
  • John Carter was actually a good movie they just didn’t promote it at all. No one knew what the heck it was.

It's a shame that a Hellboy 3 was never made with the original cast of characters. I enjoyed the first two. Having read the Edger Rice Burroughs books as a kid I honestly didn't think the movie was bad. Enjoyed that one to.

John Carter was actually a decent movie and HellBoy 3 should've been made, regardless its minimum budget or not, we deserve it!

Really sucks we won’t get a third Tron film. “Tron: Legacy” was an incredible film. The visuals and soundtrack were amazing.

Honestly critics ruin underrated movies. Don’t get me wrong that’s their job is to find the good and bad in movies but when you have too much criticism on one film you wanted to watch it KILLS the mood
  • Doesn’t it blow everyone’s minds how Disney owns almost everything. Just wait until Disney is the only studio left
  • @DaddyFutbol
Don't worry Hollywood gets desperate and will make a sequel to any of these in the list. All it takes is a few years of separation and nostalgia forms
  • No one talks about how zach snyder's daughter committed suicide and he couldnt finish the justice league film
  • We need an all new Greek Mythology cinematic universe. Theseus, Perseus, Jason & The Argonauts, Euphemis, Hercales, Achilles, Odysseus, Olympians vs Titans, etc. There's so much story potential!
  • @The_Lone_Wolf
I loved Hellboy one and two, I just wish Del Torro and Pearlman could have come out with a third one

It was the atrocious marketing that hamstrung john carter, the movie in it's self was good.

You missed a big one for the zombie genre, *Twenty Eight Days Later*, followed by *Twenty Eight Weeks Later*. ..Never to see 28 Months or Years is very depressing.
  • Hay now!! John Carter is one of my favorites just they didn't do the advertising! Can see that one over, and over!!👍👍👍
  • John Carter was pretty good. And gives you a bit of Star Wars vibes too
