The goal at a workplace is not just to be great at your job, but we also want to get along with our co-workers in the process. The last thing anyone wants is to deal with bad behavior from a co-worker.

The same applies to a set of movies or TV shows where a typical day involves long hours that could start at four in the morning and end at midnight. However, getting rid of actors who have some weight in the industry can be tricky.

Writers and directors have to get creative at times to cut the fat from their stories and sets. Here are characters killed off because of an actor's awful behavior.

Rhys-Davies was 100% correct about Sliders. So much potential, such bad writing!

John Rhys-Davies was right. Slider was going nowhere and sucked after he left. Met him and he is the nicest man ever. That man can tell you stories for decades and I would never be bored.
  • Isaac Hayes’ son also said that isaac was fine with the Scientology episode but the church wasn’t and had practically forced him to quit
  • Thanks for pointing out Hayes' actor had the stroke and Scientology spoke for him, rather than having him speak for himself.

100% on John Rhys-Davies' side, and so was the rest of the cast, quite frankly. Fox butchered that magnificent show.

Ironically, John Rhys-Davies dodged a bullet by leaving Sliders.
  • Davies was right. You can’t just have characters doing random things as the plot requires, but rather the character should respond to the situation they are put in in a way that seems natural for their established skills and personality.
  • i enjoy Chevy Chase in his movies but i've heard he's one of meanest and rudest people off screen. i guess you just never know how people act in real life

Tank was one of my favorite characters from the Matrix. He was a perfect fit for the operator of the crew

Issac Hayes was forced to leave South Park by Scientology.
  • Once Sliders got rid of the most of the original Quartet, the show was doomed.

I was never a Mandy Patinkin fan, but his comment was 100 percent on point.
  • Manny Patikin's behavior wasn't awful. Wtf?!? He had a problem with the subject matter. That hardly made him an awful employee.

Chevy Chase is the real life version of off-screen Krusty the Clown.

Interesting that they mention Mandy Pitinkin (who left for personal reasons), but totally ignored Thomas Gibson who was fired for arguing and kicking one of the writer/producers. THAT'S bad behavior. smh

John Rhys-Davies is probably the nicest human being I have ever met so I can't imagine his departure was due to a behavioural difference, but rather a creative one.

"To make her Death permanent" yeah because no one on Rosanne has ever died then suddenly reappeared inexplicably as if a whole season was just bad fan fiction or something.

I worked on Criminal Minds as a background artist when I first moved to LA. I've never watched the show, but the scene was supposed to be really simple: it was an execution scene of a criminal, with the camera focused on Mandy and the rest of us just watching what took place. Mandy is a method actor... and he was seriously distraught trying to get to that place. Every time I hear the story of him leaving the show, I remember that day of working and just nod my head. Normally, my advice is always that actors stick on the gravy train until the end of the track, but he was a really sensitive guy using a process that is deeply personal and he wasn't able to turn off the switch. Some actors can, or choose to, and some can't, or won't. In any case, I think he did the right thing, because if you can't turn off that switch at the end of the night and disconnect, you're going to get pretty messed up pretty fast in this business if you're dealing with dark subject matter.

I was a fan of "Sliders" I agree with JRD 100%, the show took a steep dive after the first few seasons, good time to get killed off.

Tank was a shame! He was brilliant in the role: held the film together as the scattered characters' central contact, & as a proxy for the viewers' emotions. His replacement in the sequels sucked!
