The idea of this song came to Greg Allman in the middle of the night. Unable to find pen, pencil, or paper he wrote it down on an ironing board with the end of burnt matches he was 21 years old. Many great bangers from the greatest jam band in history 🤘✌️💕 " aint wasting time no more "

To get a true experience of the Allman Brothers check out their live performances, especially "One Way Out" at Fillmore.East.

Their most classic album is Live at the Fillmore East from 1971. Anything from that album is fire, but my faves are the first 3 songs: Statesboro Blues, Done Somebody Wrong, and Stormy Monday. All 3 are absolute bangers. Also, from one of their first 2 studio albums, recommend Not My Cross to Bear, an almost gospel blues song that really shows off Greg's vocals when he was only around 19. Deep rabbit hole, both before and after the loss of Duane at age 27 in 1971. Duane was also tapped for slide guitar on Derek and the Dominoes, Clapton's band around that time.

My wedding song is an Allman Bros Band song...."Blue Sky"...with Dickey Betts on lead vocals

Two lead guitars, two drummers and one soulful lead singer. Sadly we lost Duane to a motorcycle accident at just 24 years of age. More great talent taken way too early. This is a deep rabbit hole. Check out "One Way Out" and "Soulshine". and go from there.
  • I'm so happy you reacted to this!! The Allman Brothers in general are incredible, but this song is one of the best. 'Midnight Rider' & 'I Ain't Wasting Time No More' are also great songs from them.

you picked a great one to start with !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Left to right Greg Allman, Barry Oakley, Jaimoe, Dickey Betts, Duane Allman, Butch Trucks. Duane died in the early 70's from a motorcycle accident and a year later just a couple blocks away from where Duane died, Barry Oakley died in a motorcycle accident.

Creedence Clearwater Revival— I Put a Spell on You. Fantastic version of an older song.

Great song! Great Southern Band to dive into. Formed in Jacksonville Florida in 1969. Lots of great tracks. "Melissa" and "Midnight Rider" are 2 of my faves.

My favorite Allman Bros. song is "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" - which I consider a masterpiece.
  • @maureenski16
I remember driving around with my dad listening to allman brothers/ led zeppelin
  • Duane was a sessions guitarist as well. You reacted to Layla from Eric Clapton, with Duane.
