Most of the time when I am in the group of people and I don't know the topic or nothing to say, I make a lot question and it is always good because I learn a lot than monopolise the conversation. I have the opportunity to listen to and improve my abilities in term of becoming a good listener.

This reminded me of when I was a child: my dad would rant at us (he had mental health concerns). My sister timed it once, it went on for two hours. We found asking questions worked then too.
