Fishery Beach was once a whaling station, before it became a shipping port to export ore from the nearby Talisker Mine.
The whaling station closed in 1855 after several ships were lost at sea.
This rugged coastline bears the brunt of heavy storms and looks out across 'Backstairs Passage' to Kangaroo Island seen in the far distance at 14 km and 45 minutes on the ferry.
