  • My best friend, Okaksandra is Ukrainian and I'm Irish. So I made a Vyshyvanka themed kilt with a sunflower Sporran bag and Blue and Yellow Kilt Hose with The Ukrainian Trident on them. It took me 6 weeks to make by hand but the look on her face was worth it. There's a lot of Ukrainians in Ireland. They're always gas craic (The most fun. A great time to be had with them)! I get a lot of compliments when I wear it out. Maybe one day when Ukraine is built better and stronger than ever I'll wear it around there!

Thank you for the 12 interesting facts about vyshyvanka. I think this Ukrainian tradition looks great! 3:48 I'm a couple of day late, but in any case, happy Vyshyvanka day 🙂

  • I have a book set about the Borschiv style embroidery, one book is about 5cm thick and full of photographs and information on this unique style of vyshyvankas. They are so fascinating and look like a lot of work, but there's really just a cool trick to the embroidery style- it's just couched wool yarns that fill out those sleeves! 😀 very warm for those cold Ternopil winters.
